Although in danger of sounding like a letter to “points of view”, I have to ask:
Why, oh why, oh why, do people still put this spiel at the bottom of their profiles? It’s nonsense, and even the site FAQ states that it’s a waste of data...
I still see lots of profiles with it. I do laugh when I see people either describing themselves as “intelligent” or being “attracted to intelligence”, yet failing to demonstrate the most basic critical thinking skills.
Would anyone care to come back with a defence of this bizarre trend?
I’ll get off my soapbox shortly. There are many faults in the world, many many faults with this site these days, but antipodean academics publishing images of my most intimate parts is not one of them!
(Legal notice... To Sydney Youngblood, Sidney Poitier, Sid James, Sidney from the Bash Street Kids and any bored and horny postgrads at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge: the wink at the end of my post is to ensure I have a defence in law if anyone takes the hump!)

If Sydney University want my pics (they don't, I have a pal that work there and she checked) I'd probably need to take some racier ones as mine are all clothed head/upper body shots.
I think I'd be chuffed if an antipodean uni wanted pics of my bod. I may change my profile to reflect this.

Quite agree it is a waste of data, but not any more so than the mundane stupid threads that get started on these forums.

Agree with you op. The sydney uni spiel is absolutely pointless. Lol. Just outa curiosity has anyone that has this on thier profile ever went and checked, just to be sure those sneaky people from sydney never listened and put up a lifesize poster of your profile on some classroom walls lol. |

Haha. I have been known to waste data, but I like to waste it on a case by case basis!
Usually writing handcrafted masterpiece messages for them to be deleted unread.... but that’s a whole other woe is me thread for later!  |

I’ve actually been reading into the Sydney thing... (sad tw@t... I know) and it’s weird, it’s dates back years and seems to be an issue across the board of similar sites.

I’m still amazed no-one has jumped to the defence of this practice yet! There are still loads of active forum users with this blurb on their profile. They’re either ignoring this, pretending not to have seen it, or are steadfast in their assumed knowledge of international civil law!  |

Dont think there servers will be close to full yet, just another thing Fab dont need to care about , like the number of fake profiles. Fab could deal with that before worrying about a bit of useless bio on a real profile.imo. |
