Looking for a meta consensus here. I'm currently North of Glasgow but within the next year looking to buy up in Glasgow itself. Not lived there for long long time so not it synch with areas that are good investment/up and coming.
Gut says west end or milngavie/ bearsden because of familiarity but will happily consider otherwise. Don't worry - I'm not basing my choice solely on this thread - but a lot of you are in Glasgow already and will have a better finger on the pulse than I do. Research suggestions (other than obvious) and Advice. Etc. Very welcome.
The metamind can help focus searches.

always hold their price, Shawlands, Cathcart, Queens Park, Newlands etc..
good place, tons of bars n cafes and lot to do. Westend great as well, access to all areas and holds price when buying there.
Good luck wherever you choose to buy |

In a similair position myself, exception is that I am a Weegie born and raised.
Live in the west of Glasgow and plan to move southside in the not too distant future.
You get more for your money than you do in the west end and many of the previously mentioned areas should see an increase in value over the next 5 - 10 years if you are looking to realise a profit on your investment.

"I'm Bearsden and would never moved but that's cos I grew up here...I'm hopeless with Southside but some lovely houses over there x"
I’m in Kirkintilloch (the Las Vegas of East Dunbarton), we’re practically neighbours |

I was southside born & bred and still have a couple of properties over in Shawlands which have certainly held their value over the years. Definitely worth a look. Also 6 minutes by train into Central which was always handy back in the day. |

Loads of good recommendations there guys. Thanks for your input.
I was based in the west end previous hence the bias of familiarity. And never very familiar with the south side - which I will certainly give more attention based on what many of you have said.
Please keep up the suggestions. Information is power

Some areas of shawlands n Dennis tom was hard to get a mortgage due to subsidence but not heard of any problems lately. This ears are great for access into town and motorways so all in all west end then shawlands, Queen's Park, Cathcart areas are good |

There are subsidence issues all over the west of Scotland, and often a mining report is required for mortgage purposes. I looked at a tenement flat in the west end for the letting portfolio and it was deemed too unsafe to enter- it was worse than Pisa's tower.
In general, growth is always consistently highest around universities etc but the buy-ins can be exorbitant. Depends if you like space vs flats vs kids vs culture vs transport links vs old vs new |
