our boss in work is a woman in her 50's and expects all the women who are in the office to wear high heels. Anyone who dares not to are called lesbians as in her opinion it's only lesbians that wear flat shoes.

Anyone any similar experiences?

Here's hoping one of your female work colleagues waltzes in tomorrow wearing their Doc Martins and boots her square in the fanny.

Is your workplace somewhere in the 50s? Or has your boss just never heard of sexual harassment and discrimination?

Is it a small firm or is your HR department just incompetent?

If it had been a guy setting those requirements it would have been in the papers by now

Sorry but I struggle to believe that.

And nobody has thought to go to HR with this!

This is a form of bullying.

If your boss was a guy, I’m sure he’d have his p45 by now

It doesn't matter if this is real or a fantasy, it is unfortunately something allowed by Government.

I won't post the URL, but if you search the Telegraph website for an article from last April (21st) there's a story about the Government rejecting a ruling about it.

It came to light last year when a temp was sent home for turning up wearing flats.

Unless you work in a lapdancing bar - I cannot imagine this sort of requirement is forcible.

If it is classed as uniform. It could be. Someone mentioned further up about the case awhile ago that was similar.

Playing devils advocate here, but sometimes in a job there’s such a thing as a uniform that the management decide upon. Generally it helps us distinguish who’s an employee and who isn’t, and it also displays an element of professionalism.

If your boss wants you to wear heels then ether do it, or stop taking their money and find somewhere else to work that will let you wear flats?
