Me and my partner went to CJs last Saturday. However when we go again do we have to email and confirm we are coming or can we just turn up on the night?

I'm curious , why is that. Surely it's a business. If your new I could understand, it could be a reporter or whatever but a verified year plus member of Fab would surely be ok. As too a couple or people that visit 2 or 3 times a year or more, surely no risk in that. Not having a dig , just curious .

For numbers I'd assume

For different nights / themes she may limit number of couples , single males , females or tv’s also there is also limited room for total of visitors not sure how many it would take to feel like a sardine even though the newest place is big .

Not all people that go to CJs are on fab, she has her website so technically anyone can go!

Yep that's very true. But that's why I added people that have been before. I do get she has to do checks but only on the first visit in my opinion.

As for numbers, the place is huge , I've seen it busy busy once and that was the new yr masquerade ball and we were not like sardines, great night by the way. I'm sure it could easily accommodate on the night last minute guests. Remember Edinburgh has an open door policy and works just fine even though it's a much smaller venue.

The other point made was, certain criteria for certain nights. Yes I agree turn people away if they attend when they shouldn't, ie single guys on a couples and single fem night. That's understandable.

An example of that , we have been in town a few times and would have liked to go to cjs but phone battery a has died or no signal or whatever so we couldn't make contact and never went as we never booked in. That's lost business for cjs.

It might be lost business but the losses would be minimal.

As said above it works on booking in advance which in a way screens any potential customers before arriving.

Having a dead phone is just bad admin lol.

Think of all the inebriated people who would turn up after pubs close.. horny and d*unk

Much better to pre book and be aware of who will be in your venue so you can manage staffing etc

From a business perspective, any loss of business no matter how small is bad. I dont think it would be minimal either. How many couples or singles go out for a night out and all there friends go home at 11 and they still want to enjoy more of the night especial when the beer and wine kick in. Then how many don't go because they can't be ersed booking in . I would say not minimal numbers. Again been to Edinburgh club lots and at least a third of people we have chatted to say they were on a night out and thought let's go to after 8.

But booking in won't stop these people still getting d*unk and turning up. That's where the door policing takes effect. I could be pissed as a fart and still send that email.

As said this does happen in Edinburgh and I have seen loads turned away at the door for being too d*unk.

A loss of business like that can mean a loss of future business, if potential customers get that kind of "service".

At the end of the day it's a private closed doors club ...booking in isn't hard ..quick n easy ...allows cj to control numbers and not just have people turn up at door ..if it was an open door policy I reckon she would lose business

Sorry. I’m not able to understand, how does it matter if any reporter or anyone turns up as far as it is very much legal and operates as per licensing law then what to hide ??

I'm sure, if you're in the area and you'd knock on the door, they'd have no problem letting you in. Unless they reach max numbers. Maybe ask CJ just now, just in case your phone goes empty again x

This! There’s been times we’ve been in town and plans have change n we’ve turned up. Don’t see a problem with booking in tbh
