Tribute bands seem ever popular, even when the ‘real’ band are still touring (never understood that but there you go).
So who have you seen that’s authentic or does a suitable tribute without necessarily tipping their hat fully to the original?
Ones for me:
Pigmy Twighlight (probably wrong spelling) saw them in Edinburgh by accident few months back and thought they were really good. Fantastic band although not a fan at all of Frank Zappa.
Gallus Cooper - the name deserves praise in itself! for the show.
AB/CD - dunno if they’re still around but if you closed your eyes you were listening to Bon scott - open your eyes and you were in a miners club in Leeds or somewhere watching Bill Oddie front a metal band.

Australian Pink Floyd and The Australian Doors were good in their day and there used to be a band kicking about called The Counterfeit Clash who were none too shabby either. |

Australian Doors forgot about them. They were one of the first big ones out there. Aus PF use all the original (what’s left of them) PF Crew I believe.
Was a well kent Edinburgh band around at the time dubbed themselves the Australian (insert band name) for one show, printed loads of merch and because their fans were die hard it was completely dead |

"We went to the fake festival recently and were very impressed by Aladdinsane, Guns 2 Roses and The Fillers "
In not getting Alladinsane (though I fear it will be blindingly obvious - who are they covering? |

One I’ve seen banded about in social media a few times as a suggestion for a band that’s not (I’d doubt anyway) been done this far is the Mocktaux Twins - probably need to be of a certain age to get that one though |

"The bootleg Beatles" they are good, again not my cup of tea and like Aus PF been going way longer than the original band. I worked with them a few years ago and they’d been going 30 years at that point. Nuts. They are a bit more of a theatre performance than a ‘gig’ per say. Show is amazing though.

There used to be a tribute band that played a lot in Glasgow called Fat Betty who were a Thin Lizzy tribute band. They were absolutely fantastic. None of them looked like the band but if you closed your eyes you would think you were listening to the real band. |

I think those kind of tributes are the best. That’s what I liked about AB/CD |
