Simple enough
When You Were At School, What Was Your Sport / Hobby.
Mines was School football although I played for my School at Rugby. I also loved chess but because I was with the School football and rugby it classed with Chess times so never got into it at school as much.
So folks, what was your sport/hobby at school |

Anything outdoors. I was usually found somewhere up a tree, or in a field looking for ancient pottery type things (which i now know farmers deliberately put in there for the ground to soak up water better, but then i was only 7, so not quite aware of these things...) |

Sports wise it was netball, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline (until the boobs grew in). I was also heavily involved with the schools outdoor pursuits activities so lots of orienteering, abseiling and rock climbing.
I was also a total swot so did choir, Young Enterprise, prefect and always in the school plays.
Looking back I was a busy bee |

Rugby, squash, badminton, basketball, lacrosse and chess, I learned to play chess due to not being allowed into the school at break times during the winter, my pals and I had the great idea of joining the chess club as you were allowed into the cosy warm classroom to play at lunchtime |

"Hurling (proper mans sport) and soccer for school and uni. Still play 5/7 aside when I get the chance. "
Oooft hurling makes rugby look like tiddlywinks! Do you still have all your own teeth? Tried a bit of Aussie Rules when I lived in Australia, thats a hard game but again in comparison to hurling.....bit of a pussy sport |

Biggest game of hurling of the year is on this weekend, the all Ireland final. Will be live in sky sports on Sunday if the football bores you this weekend. |

In all my years of playing rugby and football I never once picked up a serious facial injury. 2 years of playing Aussie Rules - 1 fractured eye socket, 2 major concussions requiring hospital treatment, torn rotator cuff (ouch) and a hairline fracture of the forearm. Still wouldnt play hurling though....amazing to watch mind you! |

That's when it becomes a spectator sport, as it is for me now. |

"Why have so many people stopped?
If you enjoy something keep it going "
Up till I had my daughter in 96, I played 5s on my then husband's team. After we divorced, I still had the odd game and still did different sports (badminton mainly). Unfortunately 3 years ago I was diagnosed with MS and had 3 strokes, so the choice was taken from me rather than giving it up x |

"I was lucky my school was boys only lol and we had a rifle range which was open one evening a week and certain weekends for 3 hrs each day "
I did shooting after school as well. The sport I was best at. Probably because I didn't have to do any running about lol |

Rugby at primary and secondary school, which continued well into adulthood before then coaching it.
Running, hill walking, orienteering, all still to this day when possible.
Chess has been a lifetime hobby but still not too great, too impulsive when I play.
The cadets lead to doing it for real.
Was busy then, and apparently still am! |

Karting and sailing. In those days mainly Merlin rockets, enterprises and flying fifteens and 250cc class 1 karts and they really shifted, had to work up to them starting out on 50cc junior karts. |
