We have been talking to a female who has just joined fab.
She asked us if we can see her ip address as she just had a mail from a couple stating they could see her ip address.
It has now got her worried that they can see it.
We told her we don't think you can see the up address on fab.
We're not entirely sure.
Just wondered if any technical boffins could answer this question |

No sites display each individual user's IP address, so whoever is telling your friend that is lying.
I don't know why they're telling her that but that's false. You definitely cant see anyone's IP address from just talking on this site, unless they've been talking on camera, using Skype or a similar program, then maybe it's possible, but I doubt it.
I would advise her not to be in any further contact with this couple as they sound a bit dodgy to be honest. |

This but also so what if they could see the IP this is not a dodgy TV CSI show where they can track you down to your address from the IP address on its own. |

They could, in theory, gain remote access to her computer if they had her IP address, but you cant pinpoint her actual house address from the IP address, just the approximate area.
I honestly don't know why someone would bring your IP address up in conversation. Definitely sounds a bit fishy to me. |

100000% can’t see their IP on here just by exchanging messages. You used to be able to do it through IM programs like Skype by starting an Audio/video call or file transfer then listing every connected IP in terminal or on a firewall app.
Nowadays that’s mostly hidden though.

No answer back Think she might be inundated with messages as she had just joined a few hours prior to when we was chatting.
