At a recent social evening with other fab members, a guy asked me how I could "do this without drinking?" as I was the only person in the group not drinking alcohol. By 'this' he meant swinging. Surely if you need dutch courage to play then it's maybe not for you? |

Everyone's different and some people like a wee drink to take the edge off any nerves.
Personally I don't need a drink at a meet and don't like playing with people that are pretty d*unk but each to their own! |

I get this all the time, at Socials or Clubs in particular!
We are all different. I can only say that I don't need a drink to lift some inhibitions I have.
I am happy to say to myself 'get a grip woman, go for it' but some people may need a couple of drink for that mindset to kick in.
We are all different... Dieu merci |

I personally prefer to stay sober on play meets but I may have a wee drink socially depending on my mood.
We are all different though and don't mind if someone has a few as long as it doesn't affect performance |

I never drink, if I needed a bit of Dutch courage to do anything I’d be starting to wonder why I’d even contemplate doing something |

I don't need to drink to have a good time, but I do drink on occasion but each to their own. i like to drive so when at a social, club or meet I am sober unless it's in Glasgow and I go let's have one to be sociable.

Generally I prefer to drink some red wine, just a little bit, to feel nice and warm inside. When I’m in CJS, I’m a driver so ney alky.
Everybody’s different. For me it’s a nonsense to go to swingers club and gets d*unk there x |

"It's nice to have a few drinks and relax, sometimes it's just a social thing and always good fun x"
It is, but he was basically asking how I could participate in swinging, or even a non playing social event without drinking.

Disagree. Got completely hammered once (all four of us were very d*unk) and it arguably killed swinging for me (us), a few drinks though, I think helps with relaxing and killing the initial nerves.
Don’t drink at all now but can see how your companion would have that thought train.
Each to their own as others have mentioned. |

Some folk might question the need for swingers to swing |

I don’t need a drink to enjoy myself and won’t play with anyone that’s d*unk either. Situations can get out of control when alcohol is involved.
Everyone should always be aware of what they are doing and who they are with.
As missnaughtybutnice points out, if you need a drink then maybe this isn’t for you. There’s lots of fun to be had without a drink. Equally so I don’t mind having a drink with people I trust but I still wouldn’t get to the stage where I wasn’t in control of my personal safety. |

Totally agree
I don't drink and at all meets, social or fun or big socials I'm sober. Always have an amazing time as I hope my company does. Best way to be

Think if your drinking so you can swing then you should reevaluate why your drinking, should you really be swinging ? If you enjoy the lifestyle then you should be able to do both, drinking or not drinking easily.
but a wee drink may help some people's nerves or some may have a drink to be sociable or just enjoy drinking, nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't spoil the night for others and you

It's strange. I'd need a bevvy to go up and sing karaoke ( the rest need bevvy to get through it)
However any meets I've had and visits to Cjs/Parties in the past I've always been sober as I'm driving.
Guess when you know what's potentially on the agenda you are more relaxed (well I am anyway) |

I (honey) always stay sober in a club scenario. I like to have my wits about me. I don’t mind a little drink when on a social/private meet. We’re both not particularly big drinkers in general. |

Will always have a few glasses of red during a meet. Not for a confidence boost but just because i enjoy a glass or two of wine with someone. But I have been known to enjoy a cup of tea on occasion! |

I'd only be drinking in someone"s company if I was completely relaxed around them and knew them well. Also, booze kills the butterflies in the tummy which is a nice feeling. |

"we drink and have no problem with those that do or don't ... one thing for sure we go to enjoy OURSELVES not to abide by others moral values . each to their own .. its a short life ..."
I certainly wasn't judging him or anyone else that drinks. It was him that approached me. My initial point was that he thought I was strange for being able to swing whilst alcohol free.
On an additional note, they have now deleted their profile, so possibly swinging isn't for them after all.
