I used to run home from college to watch Dangermouse....sad fuk that I am

Mostly remember the long dark nights out in the woods on my own with my bivvi bag being a mini ray mears....loved the peace of the woods at night....just me and the night prowling animals......

Remember being terrified of heights, and at 15 having a friend try and convince me I wanted to be a climbing instructor....so that is what I did...pmsl...instructed climbing for years and went n climbed rock faces, cliffs n mountains all over the place....and am still scared of heights!!!

Remember being sent to my room for being naughty...climbing out of the window...across the roof and jumping doen to the garden and hot footing it out over the back fence and away into the countryside, abnd having my bacjkside tanned when I got back.

Remember being beaten senseless in class by Mr Brewer (an English Teacher) who was covering a biology lesson. I had the audacity to laugh in his class, and he took exception. At break time I broke into his room and threw all his desks out of the window.

Remember my mother's soggy vegetables, boiled to within an inch of their lives. It is true waht they say...no one can make them like mother...Thank God!!!

Remember sitting up a tree, writing poetry. And remember some years later, someone reading it. Burnt it all after that!

Remember being chased across a campsite by my scoutmaster who was wielding a fukking great axe..oh they were great days.

Remember being banned from school premises during all break times. It seems they could not cope with all my wayward antics. So I used to hot foot it acroos the field to ride the horses at a nearby livery....no one knew i was there and i have no idea who's horses they were...so sorry.

Remember my first day at primary school and loving every minute of it.

Remember the first fight I got into at school. Beat up a fella called Gareth who turned out to be the deputy heads son. It made for 5 years of persucution in junior school...but the deputy head managed to survive!

Remember the first time I ever fell out of a tree...was from the top of an oak tree....rather a nasty fall...lots of cuts, scrapes, bruises and some broken fingers etc. Never told my parents, and was last time I climbed until I was fifteen.

Remember my dentist, Dr Mengele, who put in my crown when I was 15 yrs old. Was torture, and was 7 years before I went to another dentist. I have only just stopped passing out when I go through dentists door!!!!!

Bloody hell....so many memories, and would not want to change a bit of my childhood... I frittered it all away being a hooligan, but I ooved every minute of it

Grew up with no need for going to the scouts or the boys brigade because my mates dad was an ex PT instructor from the army, we would build cable runs, death defying swings with nets below you could let go of the swing and land on the huge nets, balanced walks with cables up huge heights, build log cabins, be takin on trecks catching rabbits, camp and eat what we caught, cockles from the sea, boil and eat them too, built tree houses with a choice of rope to climb down from it or a cable run, better than swiss family robinson, lol, never never bored and just great fun!

Swapping footy cards and or using footy cards with clothes pegs on yer bike to make it soond like a motorbike, and "The Flashing blade" every sat morning on the holidays on Tv.

Living in a two room tenement flat with my parents and my sister, the communal toilet on the landing, baths in a sink in the 'steamy' while mum did the washing.

In later years, reading the jackie mag, Saturday morning films with a bottle of pop delivered by the bon-accord van, and a selection off the penny tray from the Johnstone stores van xxxxx

i, gordie lol, grew up in childrens homes and my grandad visited me every single day. he was in his early 80s when i was first placed into care and to this day i do think the effort he put into always making sure he came accross glasgow, always after school hours, was something that contributed to his death when i was 11.

the one thing that always makes me think of him is Rolos. everyday my grandad would bring me a can of , irn bru or lemonade but without fail always a pack of rolos.

iv never eaten a rolo since his death and never will, but every time i see them in the shops i am taken back to those amazing few hours every day with him.

Remember my father waking up one morning and announcing to us all that he was giving up smoking ( he was a 40/50 a day man and had been since before the war). He never smoked again after that statement.

He put the cash he'd spend on cigarettes into a pot. He then went out and bought his first brand spanking new car and paid cash for it!!!!

Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy........

On a mountain in Virginia

Stands a lonesome pine

Just below is the cabin home

Of a little girl of mine

Her name is June, and very, very soon

She'll belong to me

For I know she's waiting there for me

'Neath that lone pine tree

I can hear the tinkling waterfall

Far among the hills

Bluebirds sing each so merrily

To his mate in rapture trills

They seem to say "Your June is lonesome too"

Longing fills her eyes

She is waiting for you patiently

Where the pine tree sighs

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia

On the trail of the lonesome pine

In the pale moon shine our hearts entwine

Where she carved her name and I carved mine

Oh, June, like the mountains I'm blue

Like the pine I am lonesome for you

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia

On the trail of the lonesome pine
