Couldn't think of anything worse than 'celebrating' St Patrick's Day with a load of plastic Paddies or confused Scots which couldn't even tell you when St. Andrew's Day is. |

Think the pubs and clubs in merchant city will be delighted as there is a st patricks day festival on and last yr over 6000 attended so a good earner for the city ,also st patrick was born in scotland in the dumbarton area |

I'll sadly be trying to forget the day/date as it would have been 13 years if I had stayed with my boyfriend. So hopefully I will be "busy" with something else to keep my mind off it  x |

Why do folk want to ridicule a world wide celebration of st patricks day, a day of fun and lafter a few drinks , whats not to like,, only in west of scotland do some folk seem to get upset , live and let live i say, lifes to short for inflamitory opinions , happy st pats day everyone xxx penny  |

The whole idea of 'Saint' anything is pretty ridiculous unless someone is deeply religious anyway. Even the idea of St Andrews day does nothing for us. Can pretty much guarantee most people have no clue what it's all about. |

I started celebrating St. Patricks after discovering my Nigerian family (he's the Nigerian patron saint as well) but im still waiting on my cousin Prince Adewobole Ayendi sending me the money he promised  |

the town i live in seem to believe its about running around in a celtic top spouting of about how ireland should be free.

Sadly, this is the precedent for most Scots 'celebrating' St. Patrick's Day.
Indoctrinated on a whimsical just like their peers, and their peers before them and they all just go along with it like lemmings.
Ironically, no nationality at all matters to them. The are merely celebrating the only thing they identify with - getting d*unk and engaging in tribal inner-city rivalry. |

Conversley the same could be said of those individuals who take over towns and cause major traffic disruptions, resplendant in their sashes spouting bile about “the famine being over” and “scummy kafflicks” every “Glorious 12th”. There is no moral high ground upon which one side or another of the religious chasm which seems to afflict certain enclaves of Scotland can look down on the other.
One half want to be English whilst the other has flown over Dublin or drank Guiness/Magners whilst tearfully reminiscing about freedom fighters who doubtless died when they were in nappies. The vast majority of them last saw a Church/Chapel when they were getting their heads dooked in the baptismal font . |

Close... having no affiliation or interest in either side of glasgows "tribal inner city rivalry" i just went for the first option of "celebrating getting d*unk" because there was a great atmosphere, with good music playing and people in high spirits ... oh and its fun!  |

think the OP quetion was , any one out for st paddys day, and wat do we get, the first 5 replies set the tone, insulting and derogatory remarks, but the mere mention of ireland catholics and glaswegians has some folk scrambling to their keyboards in horror at the thought that there still are catholics in glasgow, for the record im not catholic and had a great fun st paddys day i met folk who just wanted to have a good day out, now wats wrong with that. xxx penny |
