It seems that there is a new sport on fab (in Dundee at least).
The rules are: a couple agrees to a social with a single guy, all the right noises are made, dates, times and locations are proposed by the couple then 2-3 hours before the meet time the couple has to come up with the best excuse to not meet.
3 times in the last 5 weeks.
Just because I'm single does not mean I do not have to arrange my home life, time and other things to meet people.
Rant over.
Michael. |

Happens to everyone at some point least they've gave you some sort of notice. Was waiting to meet someone in town once at a bar. And he never showed or called. Then reappeared after the weekend supposedly was in the jail. |

What's the scoring system for this?
Can I suggest this:
1 point for a cancelled meet.
2 points for a last minute cancelled meet with an excuse.
3 points for a cancelled meet with no excuse.
4 points for an UNLOS before the meet is due.
5 points for an UNLOS en route. |

But how do you win. Is it like golf where you need to get a low score. Or rugby where you lose count. Do you get disqualified if your branded as a time waster. |

Maybe they read the first 2 lines of your profile and thought, too judgemental. People do re-read profiles after chatting and arranging things just to be 100% they want to go through with meet. |

Erm... I'd say the cancellers are the timewasters! To win, you have to get the highest break. Winner gets a Mercedes.
A Matchbox Mercedes. |

Clearly it's the couples that are playing the game. As the single is not in the knowledge of what's going on. |

We just chatted to single guys on fab & arranged to meet for play without a social when I was on a couple profile. Funnily enough I now always insist on a social first.

Had the same thing over the weekend, but for point scoring purposes, what would you give for...
Getting the home address and turning up at 4am as agreed
Texting you're outside as planned, getting the reply saying give me a minute....
Then the lights go out and nobodys home....
I was not impressed

You should maybe get yourself along to a social or something, prove that you're real. Or maybe revamp your profile, add some decent text and photos and you may be less likely to be be shunned in future.

Sounds like they weren't either and decided to go to sleep
At 4am
Who'd have thunk that might happen |

That’s a shame the OP left, he seemed a mice guy from what I could see on the forums and it’s a shame he experienced that.
Personally (and I find this strange, or perhaps an experience awaits) I’ve never had a no show in the 8 years I’ve been here.
Maybe that’s luck, good vetting or a bit of both... life, and fab life in particular is mysterious... I kinda like it that way |

We've met the op before and he is a great guy, attends and has organised numerous local socials.
He is well liked and known in our area and has been on fab for many years.
Reading recent posts I would say he did not request any profile critique, was mearly commenting on his recent experience.
Hope to see you back here soon op!

Maybe so , but by his own admission he posted as a rant. He also made out couples cancel meets as a sport. If his feelings are that easily hurt he just might be on the wrong website. Also bear in mind we only have one side of a story here. He had 7 verifications so wasnt doing badly as far as fab single guys goes. Lastly he wasnt shy with his opening lines on his profile, if im not likely to chat to you in a pub , im not likely to chat to you on Fab . Maybe some couples took a dislike to that so wasted his time. Totally wrong but Fab is a strange place at times. |

At a guess his veris were from previous incarnations.
I kinda agree with parts of what the op said (in numorous posts not just this one)
The backlash that can happen especially in scotland forums can be unreal that said disappearing then returning wont help to change things. My views aint liked by the forum users I couldnt care less and stay and voice them. |

well said! the op is a nice guy and a friend who is entitled like everyone else to give his opinion. Considering half the folks on here do nothing but post negativity maybe some should get their own selves sorted before criticising others.
