I’m hoping to complete the WHW after I return from Iraq in July, and I’m looking for some (preferably female) company. Are there any out there who enjoy long walks, quite literally?
Hopping it shouldn’t take any more than 4-5 days to do, mostly wild camping, with the possibility of a night at a campsite or something similar along the way, but I’m open to suggestion.
Might even take a wee jaunt up Nevis before crossing the finishing line if you’re up for it?
Probably best to ping my a PM if your interested.
Thanks! |

It’s not easy ! But you can stay in various stops on route wig wams & hotels, theirs even a few bothys if u have sleeping bags & fire wood,
I found hardest part Invergorden to fort Willian only because it’s long not a lot of climbing just long ha
Good luck and feed the deer in Cross House as friendly and come up to you |

I did it along with another 10 ppl over 5 days. We stayed at various hotels/b&b’s along the way and had someone ferry the luggage from one hotel to another. We did it in June and had amazing weather the whole week (we were very lucky). Defo recommend it, although I don’t know what it would be like if we were to get rain every day. |

have you done this before. if not you will enjoy it, the scenery is breath-taking, (bring two cameras and plenty of batteries). The path just not of Tyndrum will blow you away and then there s also the devils staircase and Rannoch Moor, just don't camp there at night. (I'm sure they would have filmed American werewolf in London if they had know about the area)
have a fantastic time |

I have done the WHW many times but when my kids were younger I started at Milngavie and went as far as loch Lomond with them as this was the easiest part of the walk, actually dropping them off at Rowardrennan Hotel where the ex picked them up and then I carried on. They both said at the time they had a great time but they've only ever been on a few smaller walks since lol |

There was 3 companies who ferried the luggage to each location and I think there are two main ones now, One been going for over 10 years now and for the life of me I cant remember their name |

Watch the midgies in the summer especially through the wooded areas-I did it with a mate in late August early September and although a bit wet it was better than being eaten alive! Best experience of my life and what a feeling at the end!! |

Jacko you are spot on
the midge spoils the walk and with this being a reasonably mild winter they will be out in force come June.
make sure any repellent contains high percentage of "deet" |

Have walked the whw a few times and have preferred to go in may or October because of the Midge problem. It was a great long distance walk and I would thoroughly recommend |

Just a wee to keep the midges away. Skin So Soft from Avon, smells good but for some reason the midges hate it. I always keep a few bottles in my golf bag for playing through what we used to call summer, now just known as the milder weather. Good luck |
