A show on telly did a taste test, and 6 out of 10 people picked the "New" Irn-Bru preferring it over the traditional one.
3 preferred the old one and 1 couldn't decide.
All of the people they picked claimed to be big fans of Irn-Bru.
I'll stick to my Irn-Bru Extra, does me more than fine.

"all they have done is replaced it with extra as it's the same ingredients." lol if it was the same ingredients there would be no outrage.
its simple they are not making their soft drink with sugar as they want to maintain a huge profit margin.
I wont drink anything with artificial sweetners they taste rank |

Does it have new packaging? Otherwise how do you know if you are drinking new stuff? It could still be stock from before the change that was already in stores |

No new packaging. If you want to tell the difference without tasting it look at the sugar content. If it’s 29% and in a red tab it’s the real stuff. New stuff has an orange sugar tab

It's totally different now drink it every day but going right off it.
Can taste the sweeteners in it as it leave and after taste. Not as bad as the diet stuff which I would never drink.
Why change something that was a national drink.
That's like taken away whiskey or changing how it is distilled
Change it back I don't mind paying more for it.
Coke didn't reduce the sugar in their cans what they did instead was reduce their bottles kept cans same size and added 5p per can and 25/30p per bottle
Bring back our Irn Bru |

Agree with you here
Read up on aspartame it's link to cancer M&S and ME heart disease and neurological conditions.
Have been cases of people who have ended up with debilitating conditions not being able to walk in so my pain they are on a cocktail of drugs.
Then it has been discovered that it has been linked to the aspartame in the diet they have been drinking. And now it is in more and more of our favourite drinks now |

"Folk keep saying "the new one" what is this new one xtra diet and zero have been on the market for yonks?"
It's the new lower-sugar version to get around the sugar-tax.
I believe it's got 16g of Sugar in it and only has an Orange rating.

Ah can't believe I missed this thread. I've been drinking Irn Bru as long as I can remember and it's always been my favourite drink. Did a blind taste test with the new one a few weeks ago and could tell the difference immediately. The sweeteners leave an aftertaste that's completely disgusting.
I still have a look for bottles with the old sugar content, but generally don't drink it anymore.
They are doing it to try and avoid the new sugar tax, but I would rather they just increase their price by 24p per litre, as I'd prefer to pay more for the same drink.
Coca cola are doing something similar. They'll decrease their bottle size to 1.5l but keep it at the same price as the 1.75l, which is already the 2l bottle reduced...
I should really drink less fizzy juice! Maybe irn bru tasting disgusting will help!

Used to drink lots of it daily but after a few sips of the new one, I'll never drink it again. Tastes like a poor version of diet which I never liked to begin with. Boggin now!
Completely lost its taste for me, I've moved on to other drinks now haha |

Tea only here. I think alcohol with my pain meds would probably make me dafter than I am already. |
