Does anyone actually use Pro Photo's
Jump to: Newest in thread
Genuine question that will no doubt get ne roasted, and not in a good way, But load of profiles have "Taking Photos" or similar on their profile yet I rarely see anything resembling a decently lit/composed photo. I understand a lot of images may be taken during the heat of the moment And setting up a camera ECT isn't really conducive to maintaining that heat But why doesn't anyone show decent pro/semi-pro images?
PS this is not an advert for my own services simply curious to know. |

people list taking pics as an interest, that's not saying they are good at it merely that they enjoy doing it, and for you to claim to be a photographer your pics are not the best and I've heard you say in forums before that you are happier on the other side of the lens, so why not just leave us novices to display our pics on our profiles! |

I am not saying their is anything wrong with the images being used I just wondered if there was anyone used pro or semi pro photographers.
Yes the two image I have in my own profile are simple but I am happy to prove my ability to anyone genuinely interested by sharing my own portfolio or links to the magazines and newspapers I have been published in. However like most here I have a life outside of FAB so it's not something I am going to do lightly.
Thanks for taking the time to respond though.
Stay safe x

Any image taken should look like you, weather that's before or after a shoot.
I believe Photography should first and foremost be fun and as long as your happy with the images that's all that matters.
Thanks for your response. |

I return the question to you.
Why don't you?
I am intrigued by the two choices on your profile... from someone claiming to be a published photographer!

" Personally I hate having my photo taken hence the crap images on my profile and secondly the need to maintain privacy, I understand many on here like to stretch the truth a bit and I can only assure you I have not made any false claims.
I always try to be open, honest and respectful. If your profile states an age range or preference I cannot meet I won't message you. Likewise if I message anyone and they decide not to reply I leave it at that. We all have choices and I respect anyone's choice to reply or not. |

Oh am sure you're not stretching!
A rubbish pic can still be decently lit, decently composed and maintain privacy.
I hate my pic taken, I prefer to be on the other side of the camera, however, I hate even more to display photos that I am not happy about.
But that's me

The simple answer is because for most people 'taking photos' refers to taking photos during a meet when they're having fun. |

OP you will get better at taking pics, it's just about finding the right angle. That's all anyone can do. I'm not the best at taking pictures but I still point and aim lol. Just do your own thing and never mind what anyone else says x |

"Quite simply you’re clearly not a pro photographer, your profile pics are shit and as bad as I’ve seen!!!!!" Thanks for your response. I shall look out for you at the Ryder cup or the Open and we can discuss my actual photography skills rather than 2 snaps I chose to be photo verified on here

Some people like to take pictures of their meets and keep them to look at or show on their profile, they don't have to be good at taking pictures to do this. They probably want to look back on a good memeory or flex on their profile (or whatever), I doubt they're worried about them looking professional. |

This is the type of answer I was expecting to get and it's appreciated. I love taking photos and in general as long as I like the image then anyone else's opinion of it is of little matter. The main crux of the post was to gain an idea of the type of images people like to take and like to be featured in. So I do agree it doesn't have to be a professionally set up image if you like the image that's all that counts And as I stated in the opening post I am not trying to sell myself or my skills here, there are plenty other sites I use for that.
Thanks for all the responses. |

I assume the problem is most people won't want to invest in professional images for a swinging website... from my own experience I would say top quality images does drive guys to visit my profile x |
