Quite A few reviews saying the new film/trilogy has ruined the original cult story
.
The original films were heavily influenced by religious subtexts (hence, a subliminal reason for such a worldwide following). The new films, less so...
.
Anyway, time will tell.... |

Right no spoilers from me just incase anyone who does want to see it reads this but what I will say is that while it does not ruin the old trilogy (uncle George did that all by himself) like ive heard people say, it also is not the best one ever as some reviews are proclaiming (thats still Empire). It did not have that wow moment that you expect but was enjoyable...just not star wars enjoyable. Few things to make old timers like it but I feel underwhelmed. Stuff which I thought may happen did not and overall the kids in the audience also seemed a bit...flat unlike TFA.
Also really weird ending right before credits role and unlike TESB and ATOC it did not feel like they were setting up for number 9. Be interesting to see how Disney milk this going forward |

"I've removed posts. Don't deliberately spoil a film for people who haven't seen it."
, deliberately saying spoilers is really childish in my opinion,
My views on the film are personally I loved it and can't wait till episode 9 |

I loved it. I too came to the conclusion that it felt like a self contained film but I did still walk away with questions. Just not with the usual cliffhanger feeling one usually gets in the middle movie of a trilogy |

I thought it was ok, better than the force awakens but not a patch on TESB which in my opinion is the best SW movie ever made.
I feel the duration of the film was too long and should have been cut short as again this is my opinion.

It's good people giving their own opinion on the movie ,
But why do people who didn't like it that that much always say spoilers and try to ruin it for others,
Personally I find it childish, as if the mentality is I didn't like it so I'll spoil it for others |

So disappointed really didn't like it and just felt it's turning far too much towards being a Disney film rather than Star Wars. Will wait and see if old JJ can pull It back with episode 9 |

Yeah took my boy to see it and he said that he did not understand I said you have to take your star war films hat off they are taking the franchise away as far as they can from the old films as Disney have bought it and plan a further 10 to 15 films |

Really enjoyed it, I felt there was real tension at times. There was only one bit I didn't think was right and I did think it was around 20 minds too long. But seen it twice (family and friends) and enjoyed it both times.
If you listen to the Mayo and Kermode podcast, the interview with the director was interesting in that he was given a blank sheet of paper for this story, there was nothing that he had to include or exclude or a point he had to leave it at.
I think there was so much over analysis by star wars geeks that if something wasn't a big reveal and linked in with destiny in some way then it is 'wrong'. |

The thing that's standing out for me is Mark Hamill has said he is not a fan of the film in some interviews, and the director has said he and Mark clashed on the way Luke was written.
And as sad as this sounds I do trust Mr Hamill on this. I mean he's Luke Skywalker (and The Joker)
Like I said, good film bit not star wars enough for me |

I'm a star wars "geek" as people would say and I really want to enjoy the new trilogy I'm just finiding certain parts I just don't understand why they go down that road for a story arc at certain points.
Think the film had alot of potential for it to go different directions to open up a whole new part of the franchise. For spoilers reason can't go into but glad there was no higher reason and galactic link in for certain actions
Will look forward to episode 9 I hope Disney just don't end up ruining star wars in the next 10 movies. |

Just saw it last night. Rogue one is definitely the best of the new ones IMHO, uncanny Valley Tarkin, Leah and all. TLJ needs some serious editing, the whole casino planet was unnecessary, and was really corny. If the pacing was tighter it would have been a lot better. I'll have to watch it again but I won't rush myself. |

Thought it was the worst of the entire Star Wars library. It’s not just a bad Star Wars Film. It’s a bad film overall. Terrible dialogue (“Chrome Dome!”), badly paced, the acting is completely wooden (Hamill should stick to voice acting), the best character from TFA is completely ruined and there’s a huge sequence that would have been better off in Phantom Menace.
The reason TFA was so good was because they ditched the CGI heavy look for more practical effects, and Last Jedi is a complete reversal. It’s reverted to the green screen nonsense that spoiled the prequels. Could go on about just how poor a film it is but it’s bloody exhausting. I’m just going to carry on as if TLJ didn’t happen. |

Saw it the other day, wasn’t impressed with the main bulk of the story. The rebels trapped in space!?!
I’ve heard people saying it’s the best Star Wars film. Empire still has that mantle in my opinion.

"Yoda looked terrible..I dont mind practical effects...but it was like theyd used the original puppet
Agree with that( terrible CGI"
its was almsot the original puppet lol..they used the same mould and just gave him a few extra design bits..no excuse for making him look semi-kermitty |

A few less design bits...
The original puppet had additional parts added to its mouth because it looked weird.
The new puppet cast from the old mould is missing those corrective parts.
Yoda is more Miss Piggy than Kermit, as Frank Oz returned to play the part again |

hahaha I'd only skimmed the details after my initial thoughts...I thought I'd just watched a bad version(ahem) and it couldnt be that bad that nobody thought "hey guys..yoda's looking a bit fucking shit!" |

My biggest gripe with this film is the amount of people that get killed because of Poe Demerons bright ideas, which goes unacknowledged! If I was in the Falcon at the very end I'd be busy making a shiv with his name on it! |
