With the darker days upon us my passion for malt whisky has turned up a notch or two.
I'm going to head north on a few distillery hunting trips and wondered if any of the wonderful fab people are interested in malt whisky.
I usually plan a night or two in hotels near good distillery hunting grounds.
Any good suggestion or Fabbers interested in meeting up to enjoy a dram or two? |

I would recommend a visit to Dornoch Castle. Superb whisky bar. Gin distillery round the back. Started on whisky but obviously will take a few years to mature.
Within 20 minutes drive you have Glen Morangie, Balblair and Clynelish distilleries. |

Cardhu is a lovely one. At the roundabout that one is on there is pretty much a distillery on every exit. Follow the whisky trail. It’s brilliant. |

Thanks guys - I'm planning a two night trip - my biggest fear is that I get on the whisky trail and never come back  |

Cheers - for this short trip I think it will be speyside. Just heard that the whisky tours at the Dalwhinnie are free in November. |

Dalwinnie, cragganmore, aberlour, Glen farclas and the Dallas dhu, pretty smashed after a wee taster at them all. Enjoy |

If you are heading up to Dalwinnie, stop in at Blair Athol distillery in Pitlochry it has a good tour but better still an excellent shop where you can purchase malts that are not for sale to the public (nice for the collection).
also
check out Edradour Distillery, only 10 mins drive from Pitlochry, the smallest distillery in Scotland with one of the largest shops and they tend to give you much more to sample, one of the best distilleries I have visited for cleanliness, good tour and plenty of samples.

If you are going to Dalwhinnie and fancy a walk, check out "Loch Ericht" its an excellent walk along the loch which very few people know about, "A hidden secret gem" |
