"Sorry to be a pedant but Scotch is Whisky and Irish and Borboun is Whiskey.
Mines is Bruichladdich or Bowmore. Not too fond of Speyside malts at all! "
But they are made differently, Scotch is made mostly from malted barley, while bourbon is distilled from corn. |

LOL I know that the distillation process for Scotch and Corn or Rye whiskey os different. I was being pedantic about the names Scotch not having an “e” in it unlike Tenesee sour mash “whiskey” |

I actually had a discussion with an English friend earlier about Whisky and he kept adding the e, he also said Scottish people are uncultured for not adding water or ice to their Whisky. |

To me good a malt should always have a small drop of water added....Ice in a Malt is sacrilege.
Och...you did say he's English. We'll let him off with it. |

I have roughly 150 bottles of un-opened rare malts in the collection and very difficult to determine a favourite.
There are some great malts as well as some amazing blends, I drink some straight, some with water, some with ice, my choice, im paying for it, I drink it as I please.
I have at times even mixed with , iron bru and or course ginger beer.
sometimes I think I should open each bottle and enjoy rather storing in the collection |

Go to the Pot Still and try them there instead. We tried one that he had - £48 a nip! Yes forty eight not four pounds eighty! |

I go to loads of whisky tastings and pretty much the rule of thumb is “just enjoy a dram “ the way you want to.
There can be too much snobbery about what way to enjoy it.
I prefer it neat.
Too many good drams to mention but some of my favourites are
Rock Oyster
Scapa
Mortlach
Bunahabbin
Slanj my whisky friends. |

I have sold quite a few bottles of whisky over the years. Unfortunately auction sites specialising in Whisky like McTears etc take a 20% commission plus add 20% VAT. If you can find a private buyer this will save you a lot of ?? |

I had a look at the auctions and yes would rather find a private buyer as I know it's worth quite a bit and going up |

I was given a Dalwhinnie Winter Gold as a birthday present. On the side of the box it says to store in the freezer before drinking to bring out the flavours! I think that would mute the flavours. However - as an Islay fan - my favourite (currently!) is a bottle of Lagavulin 16y.o.! |

Avoid Dornoch Castle, have had offers from them for bottles before, piss takers.
Private sale will get you the best price, the online whisky forum's are the best place to contact collectors directly.

"Always has been always will be Macallan 50 year old.
Lol, in your dreams!!"
Some of us don't mind the cost. Some of us also know that most things of quality in this life do not come cheap. Some people obviously know there place on the quality scale. |
