"Since moving North, I've noticed people like soup more and more.
But what's the difference between a stew, broth and soup? "
Stew is a dish of meat and vegetables in a gravy served as a main course with tatties and if you're lucky doughballs (dumplings)
Broth is a thick vegetable soup, usually also containing pulses such as lentils or split peas. The stock can be of any meat, though lentils are often paired with ham.
Soup is a runny liquid such as tomato or French onion.
Though if you are of a certain age, you'll know how to make pea and ham from a chicken! |
