I went for meet last night and it turned out the person I was meeting was nothing like the photos they sent in conversation.
I felt really let down and total waste of time
Why do people do this! |

I think there is a difference between good angels and flattering pictures to people who clearly have old pictures or heavily filtered ones.
At the end of the day if you’re actually gonna meet you should have pictures at accurately show how you look just now.
Just my option though! |

Maybe that is a question for her lol
Put it down to experience OP.
I don't know if that's your first profile but you have been here 7 days!
2 genuine meets in that time and you would have had all the single guys asking what your secret is!
If it is your first profile, maybe get to know the site a little and its population.
And if an offer is too good to be true it probably is.
Good luck OP |

Because they are chancing their luck and in many cases get away with it. Had this happen before and just chalked it down to experience. In my case the guy clearly had his free bus pass for years when he was supposed to be 49!
Plenty other honest people on fab! |

You may have just scored an own goal I'm afraid. That lady, like most, talk to others on this site and this post may turn up in the conversation and in around about way limit your potential meets.
I understand you asked a genuine question but sometimes inside thoughts should just stay that.

Ohh dear OP. Sadly it happens to both men and women that meeting someone can lead to disapointed that their pics don't match up.i put that down to our personal attraction to other person. Might be an idea to ask for clear recent pic. Or as has been mentioned some sort of video chat can be helpful xx |

I don’t think there is anything wrong in which the OP said! Why indeed do people send pics that are very clearly years out of date?? Or that are very cleverly taken that do not look like them in the slightest (great angles and filters).
You had the right at this point to say I’m sorry I think you have mislead me by the pictures and left! I would have.
Good luck with future meets if the picture sent next time looks blurry/hazy etc ask for a recent one, if they don’t want to send it the problem is not with you. |

I deliberately send/have unflattering pics so no disappointments for either party.
But I have had a couple meets turn up when I was early on fab journey who'd clearly sent not only inaccurate pics but in one case I don't think the pics were even of him! |

I had this happen to me on my single profile, twice by the same guy pretending to be someone else. He was clearly nuts.
Some people are just deluded. There's no way you can get away with it if you're meeting in person.

I think the op has a fair point , many people on here use pics that are well out of date ....years out of date for some. Some folk are very clever also with filters etc......
Sometimes socials can be very interesting lol |

"Can’t see the need to post this on here - maybe you’ll pop on cam to say hi in future (just to make sure) x "
Excellent comment
surely it is best to chat on cam prior to a meet, or am I missing something |

Same happened to me from a different site. I went to edinbugh to meet this redhead and what turned up was her grey haired mum!!
She then told me how to iron a duvet and the best way to wash out cupboards. Unfortunately the toilet windows were locked or I would have gone out there but I eventually managed to get away. |

A world of my own |
I like to think despite good angles and a few filters, those who have met me got who they expected. We all try to portray ourselves in the best light so see nothing wrong with it.
When you meet people off the internet its just one of the risks you should be prepared to take. |

"Gotta be on the lookout for flattering angles n filters.....using them myself I find them fairly easy to spot lol
But you suit your copy+paste abs "
I'll have you know young Miss Bumblebee, that those abs are 100% free from digital enhancement...
I drew them on with a marker before taking the pics...so ner ner ner ner ner

Aye definitely agree,it's how you get initial interest most of the time,so folks are gonnae put up the best pics of themselves they can take,I know I do anyway n in all the years I've been on here I've only ever had one lass do a runner after she said I didn't look like my pics!
Cheeky bint! I looked more like my pics than she did hers! Lol
Anyway I don't think it's that big a deal, the whole point of a social is so you can check each other out face to face then take it from there.
If you're clever enough to use the interwebs then getting your head around how folk use photography to put themselves in their best light shouldn't be that hard! |
