Think we would all like to be paid at least a bit more. But in fortunate that I get well paid for the job I do and the freebie company benefits that go with working for them that I wouldn't get else where

I could get way more doing the same job elsewhere but I would actually have to work rather than just pretend!

Absolutely not. I made my employer over £600 for today and you’re lucky if I see half of that.

I won't say what I do but basically....

In 1997 you could buy 35 fredo bars with an ours wage and now you can only buy 17 so no i dont get paid enough

Direct line responsibilities for over 320 sites theoughout the UK and dont get paid anywhere near the “national average”. My employer could give me a 50% wage rise and in my opinion I still wouldnt be getting paid enough

I agree with most people they dont get paid enough. My kind of work has just been made to register like nurses doctors etc professionals but we dont get paid near as much as them .

This is possibly the greatest method of assessing wage rates ever

And dont forget fredo bar's are smaller now as well

There's lots of jobs that have to register these days.

Is irrelevant to the wage scale but relevant to regulation.

Anyway any costs of having to be registered can be claimed back from HMRC and your tax code adjusted to reflect it.

Things are constantly changing to improve services and protect folk. Allegedly.

A few years ago, for instance, dental nurses and dental technicians suddenly needed to be registered when historically they never had.

Care workers in care homes now have to be registered.

Part of registration is ensuring that people are qualified for the job they do and that they maintain their training.

Just been a case up here of a head teacher before the GTC for employing an unregistered teacher in a high school. Ie someone who had not been checked as they should have been.

As to the tax bit, not everyone claims it so government wins on that one.

Pay freeze for 7 years with increased pension contributions has effectively been a pay cut for me

I would gladly pay an additional 1% Income Tax if it meant an 18% pay rise (over 3 years) for Nurses, Firemen, Police, Prison Officers and Social Workers. The way Public Sextor workers have been fucked over since the GFC in terms of pay and conditions is repugnant.

P.S I’m not a Public Sector worker

I am a public sector worker.

With no significant pay increases over last few years, a new contract forced on us, combined with increased pension and other subtractions, as well as the end of various allowances and overtime, my net is substantially lower than it was a decade ago, despite the increase in seniority.

Once you factor in inflation, it is just as well interest rates haven't risen or else mortgage would be very tight.

True words

Hopefully change in coming years I am lucky that within the government my job was very secure which did count for a lot in past years and saved me the anxiety many faced.

Certainly employment has change unrecognisabley since my parents days.

It does make me wonder what the future for our children
