ok it may be for good causes, raising sponsorship for this and that. . but
my employer has had to close the business because they've closed the access road for this event.
meaning I and others lose a days wages.. . or use one of our holidays to cover the lost earnings
Anyone else in a similar situation? |

No other access to my place of work. . . the route passes past the workplace gate in Coatbridge.
It's only for a day yes, but when a company has close and its 7 employee's lose a days pay its a bit harsh.

Like someone else said - Trapped in my hometown today.
Doesn't bother me much as I pre-planned for it, and had no need to go to the better shops.
I saw a driver earlier however who drove across the road, and was in the cycle-route, he totally lost it and was shouting about how he pays road tax, and the cyclists likely don't.
Also read a post on our local Facebook group, that someone had moved cones and signs just outside our town and cyclists were going the wrong way.

Can't the company just offer you alternative day to work?
It is a charity ride, have a heart

It doesn't go on all day. Roads open up soon after they've passed so why not ask to go in then.

They should maybe look at doing rolling road closures for it to keep disruption at a minimum.
I know someone who was part of the security for it and admitted he only agreed to it as he's trying to get into the female manager that was running its knickers |

Businesses and residents of Glasgow city centre and inner city must be the most inconvenienced in the UK - there are 'events' most weekends. We have a culture that says dusrupting traffic and everyday lives is the only way to show something is "important". The council wants us out of our cars but then force us to out of town shopping. Clueless.
Anyway, who enjoys a public fingering, I know I do! |
