Sleeping with bi men and giving blood
Jump to: Newest in thread
Men who sleep with men or women who sleep with men who sleep with men will only have to remain abstinent for 3 months now.
If their was a genuine danger the amount of fab straight guys in itself makes the whole law a moo point. Like a cows opinion.
How about anyone who checks out blood disease free can give blood?
It's not mentioned in the article i read but when i got my first tattoo and piercing they came with statues of blood giving limitations.
Come on Scotland, show how forward thinking you are and let MwSwM and WwSwMwSwM get back into helping people. I trust in the screening process for blood donated, do you? |

I have donated 55 times but had to stop a few years ago as I had a blood transfusion in the 80s (during the Mad cow, CJD scares)despite having donated after the transfusion. And despite asking again if I was now clear to donate have always been refused. |

"screening the blood has to be more effective than assuming all hetero normative poeple are honest and have only ever entertained honest men. "
Agreed... also... I'm sure bisexuality does not automatically make you a higher risk then very active hetrosexual people... seems a very outdated concept |

Regular blood donor here. The rules have changed often and really you have to answer the big screening qs every time you donate.
I spent time in a malarial region on two tours with the military and as a result couldn't donate for a very long time. However it's OK now.
Most of us will accept blood in a medical emergency , so it's a shame that so very few actually donate..... |

Same here although I managed 17 pints. I had a transfusion in 86 and again in 95. If blood tests were that good they'd be able to check if it was ok to give blood again. Unfortunately CJD could only be confirmed by autopsy unless they now have a test.

I guess it's up to the screening to improve really, they can ask all the questions they like, they are still relying on people's honesty at the end of the day to minimise risk. Todger see your point there too |
