I've not been abroad in 14 years but I have the opportunity finally to go away somewhere early September.
Looking for somewhere warm but not mental, I am Scottish. Nice culture, architecture, night out all that.
Wondering where people would recommend? I know of some cities around Europe with great reputations but anywhere would be intetesting |

Barcelona one of my 'on tour' fav stops. Gorgeous Gothic quarter worth the trip alone. Good atmosphere in Las Ramblas (the ramblers) big tourist street and a great food market just off that. If you like rock music there's a great wee bar at the south end of the gothic section which does amazing cheap food.
It's only a €5 ride to the airport on the bus too and about 20 min journey. |

Try New orleans, fantastic place.
The old town is fun at any time, and food is excellent. Though I wouldn't go in the height of summer, heat is excruciating. (locals head over to French man's st, for an even better time) |

One of my friends just got back from Greece (Rhodes). She said it was lovely and cheap. I asked about the refugees and the effects on local tourism.
She said there was some visible refugees but it was not a problem nor was there any bad atmosphere towards them.
She had a lovely 2 weeks.
Nessarosa and I were thinking norway cruises or log cabin.
Or Puerto Rico (I have family there) or Tenerife again, I use to live there.

Rome is amazing but the beaches leave much to be desired
If you like snorkelling or diving then Greece or Cyprus are pretty good
There is a little coastal town in Spain called moraia that I loved - I could live there
