Well done you. I never applied for it BUT why did they limit it in the first place ? . Cmon its historic, open it for 4 hours and let as many people as they can that would like to do it go . Controlling the people again .

I think it should have been open to anyone who applied and then ran more days to accommodate. I assume its a security thing. Part of the confirmation process is uploading pictures of everyone in your party including children. Feels a bit much but I suppose they are just being extra cautious

"sorry for being a bit simple, but was this a lottery or whatever to walk over a bridge?

You had to apply to get a space to walk across the new bridge. People were then picked at random.

so you apply to walk across a new bridge?

for what benefit? sorry, i really dont understand.

is there a prize at the end?

Falkirk

The new bridge is different to the existing one.

It has NO pavements. It is for vehicles only and will have motorway status once opened.

It is opening 30th august and then closing again for the weekend of the 2nd & 3rd of September to allow people to walk across it. I assume the reason why it's limited is because of very limited pedestrian access to the bridge as well as no car parking.

The way I see it ,we all payed for the bridge to be built ,with our tax money, why pay to walk over a bridge wooly Doo.

And even if you get picked and you can't make it, because everyone gets a pass with your pic on it

I always liked the thought of sex at the half way point of the road bridge. Looking out to sea in the middle of the night! I doubt it could really be gotten away with though and unlikely even close to the romantic fantasy in my head.

With the cameras on the forth road bridge it would certainly make it difficult...but not impossible for a quickly! Although not very romantic

a prize, lol, its a publicity stunt and free publicity as people are lining up left, right and centre to do this

Don't they realise they can walk across the forth bridge at any time, any day yet they still fight to walk across the Queensferry bridge

Why???

I got accepted but had to decline as work got in the way.. Hoping I'm lucky enough for another slot at a more suitable time, daughter's been going on about it since we applied.

Anyone else up for a quickie at the half way point we can all take turns at holding the tarpaulin so no one can see it to complain about it.

50,000 people due to walk over the new bridge this weekend

And thousands more will turn up to view this from the Forth Road Bridge

so? where are all the cars going to park???

The old bridge can move as much as 7 metres out to the side in a high wind. The new one will only be able to move about 3.

I wonder if you can feel the vibrations under your feet on the new bridge like you can on the old!

I'll be crossing the Kessock bridge today in protest at the Central belt bias!

I'm back and forwards between EDI and Dundee for work at present; so lucky to have those bridges along the way, whether train or taxi.

I did the same on Tuesday and the speed limit was in force, also, you get no view of the real bridge which is what the original road bridge was for

Drove back from the airport this morning, crossing the bridge and its still 40mph, this is what causes bottlenecks
