"I'm never quite sure what exactly means. It's not a keyword that attracts me to someone though!
I think it might be code for I'm not showing you my face until I really have to!"
I do that but I'm only a professional drinker |

"It means...I think I'm really speshul. Check me oot! "
In the "real world" it used to mean a "white collar" worker as opposed to a "blue collar" worker... an office job as opposed to a labourer... Why that would infer superiority lord knows... as far as I'm aware being an arse on here has nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with manners. But hey I could be wrong... it will have to happen one day spose... |

Professional means you work in a profession whether it be lawyer, doctor, hairdresser etc. But generally to me it means the former professions. I have.met a few 'professional' guys on here - one was a checkout operator, one a brickie |

In the old days I guess it referred to jobs like being a lawyer or doctor but now I think it means someone with a recognised trade qualification which can be in anything from hair-dressing to surgery - they can all be professions.
In terms of finding someone to do a job like fixing your car it seems important.
In terms of meeting someone it seems pretty meaningless. |

When I see it I think it means that they work 9-5, Monday to Friday. Nothing to get offended about.
On a very slightly related note, yuppie is 80s slang for young professional and yuppies were middle class and in white collor employment earning above the average salary.
These days the term is YoPro.
If any one describes themselves as a YoPro (unless in jest) I would probs be a little bit sick in my mouth! |

Is a professional male someone who always leaves the toilet seat Up, likes to bbq and wolf whistles women? Like if you don't do it you're only an amateur male and don't get the benefits that come from professional male status?
Personally I read professional in a profile as arrogant and snobbish |

People read all sorts into things here... to be fair... in a sea of guys who get tarred with the negative single make brush I think some are just trying to say they are genuine and not time wasters... doesn't mean they aren't mind you
As is often the case in life you can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.
If you use this description to filter someone positively or negatively then it's a personal preference... just like everything in life |

""Professional" whether male or female, to me would infer someone who works a "suited" job and maintains a certain standard of vocabulary... ... But each to their own eh!"
I dont get that ..
So a Civil Engineer isnt professional because he doesnt wear a suit ? ..
Define certain standard of vocabulary ?

So someone could merely wear a suit and use large words and that would make them professional? |
