Never tried gin properly 
And to answer your question OP I will not be going but will certainly google it to arrange something for next year. So thanks for info.

A taster from all the brands on show
Entry on a first come, first served basis to any of the talks
Session times:
Friday 2nd June: 5pm to 10pm
Saturday 3rd June: 12 – 4.30pm
Saturday 3rd June: 5.30pm-10pm
Sunday 4th June: 12 – 5pm

Well you're almost right as it starts off as a neutral grain spirit at around 97% abv before you distill it with the juniper and other botanicals. Think there is only one on show that uses potato based neutral spirit.

most vodkas arnt potato the best vodkas are grain and the best vodkas are tasteless and odourless which makes for the best gins as there can be no taint |
