Who needs botox when the midges bite you on the lip...
And its even worse if they get me around the eyes!
Ive tried all the over the counter midge repellents on the market and still the blighters bite and leave me with huge bumps that take days to disappear.
Anyone got any tips/remedies on how to repel them from biting?

Dont know if you can get it here but the Australians have this stuff called Aeroguard.....keeps mosquitos at bay, they dont come near you so it would repel our wee national pest surely? |

Find smidge I havnt seen it in shops last year or this year but it was about and I think it's amazeing I work outside and always bothered big time with midges especially around Arrochar but with smidge I can work in my t shirt or less sometimes and there around but don't bute me look it up on internet u will prob find it |

Eat loads of garlic
Apparently they stay clear
Either that or start smoking a pipe - the smoke apparently works wonders in deterring the little blighters

A midgie allergy isn't fun that's for sure
Vitamin B12 supplements are supposed to help but I don't know if that's a proven fact.
Midge nets work, you just look a right choob wearing one that's all 
If it's around your house a midge eater would help too,
takes a long time but definitely cuts the numbers down in your vicinity. |

He's possibly right, if you're out in the hills and they're bad,
there's a native shrub, bog myrtle, which you can use and it smells a bit lemony |

Skin so soft is very greasy on the skin and of limited use, as is smidge the midge
You need a repellent with "DEET" in it, so look at the contents of what you buy.
Best place for you to try will be "Bush Wear" in Stirling as you are from Stirlingshire, there is also a bush wear in Perth, people who stalk deer and hunt for long hours in forestry and heather terrains always use a "deet" product.

Smidge doesn't deter the wee blighters from biting me im afraid....

hi I get attacked with midges too come out like a harlin wall . I found taking piriton antihistamine every couple of days reduces the attacks seems to deter them I've tryed all the lotions too Avon skin so soft in blue bottle ps don't go to Skye I only lasted two days and had to come home and go to doctors covers from head to foot in bites , |

Nothing works for me either!! Did 2 21 day trips around Thailand last year and this year, 3 weeks in oz over Xmas! I tried everything and I mean everything the Thai stuff, the potent oz stuff, stuff fro the chemist but was still eaten alive. Not much help but I feel your pain  |

I had similar experience after staying near Arisaig. Woke up next morning and thought I had a bad outbreak of chicken pox lol |

If for sitting static citronella candles. For moving about build up garlic in the blood (you can get tablets in the pound shops) nivea with lemon oil (extract oil from peel) jungle formula as said above is the best ive used worldwide. |

I'm afraid it's down to the individual. There was a documentary about the wee sods a couple of years ago and the conclusion was that, depending on the scents and pheromones you produce, you'll attract them or you won't. Some of the lotions may deter them but if you're a target it's gonnae happen.
Midges;the only time you'll hear a Scotsman complain that a female sucked on him. |

Try youe own wee forula fresh squeeded lemon juice mixed with skin so soft and bit of marmite hopefully it works for you x |
