Kilt to black tie dinner

Am down in Glasgow Friday night for a black tie dinner at the Hilton.

Apparently us gents have it easy when choosing what to wear, ie Kilt.

What ladies don't realise how much variation you can choose.

Now, I shan't be wearing a bow tie or Argyle jacket but shall opt for a ghillie shirt.

The dilemma is, white, cream or black shirt.

Ordinary brogues or lace up the socks.

Then, which socks, though they will match the shirt.

I throw myself open to suggestions from fellow Fabbers.

Sorry OP. Black tie means you're restricted. MUST have the tie. The clue is in the name.

Stopped wearing a bow tie years ago, though there was something about undoing it and letting it hang down from the collar.

But these days ghillie shirt and a waistcoat.

Easier to dance in.

Black tie is formal wear, unfortunately ghillie shirt is casual wear

Two pieces of advice OP,

1) ensure your attire fits the occassion.

2) make sure you feel comfortable with whatever you wear.

Have worn ghillie shirt and waist coat to black tie before so have no problems with it and feel very confident and comfortable in it.

Am a big boy and know what I am doing!
