I've been thinking about this for a while to use it, but I have my doubts. Has anyone ever used it and have they had a positive experience from it? Bad experience welcome too. Want to see what people say.

My friends and I used it for a place in Newcastle and it was no hassle at all. Id recommend it, the place we found was much cheaper and nicer than the standard holiday apartments.

That's okay for something in the UK but would you use it outside the up? For a holiday etc.

My friend recently used it in Thailand with no issues. The people who owned the place even picked her up at the airport

Used it in USA - was great, lovely apartment as advertised and much better price than staying in a hotel. Make sure you check all the reviews as this gives you a good guide. Only send any money via official Air BnB website as you are not protected from scammers otherwise - and of course there are some but it is usually obvious as they will have very few reviews, few or poor photos of property or other details which look funny. You can also cross-check the reviewers to see if they look legit.

Only good stuff to say about airbnb in U.K. And abroad. In fact, I rent a house out on the site as well. Great fun meeting folk from all over the world.

I've used it a few times, twice in Edinburgh and once in Dublin. No complaints any time.

Easy to use and speak to the owners

Well worth using. Usually cheaper than hotels and a great way to meet local people and get some inside knowledge.

I've used it twice in Australia and recently in Koh Samui in Thailand. It's excellent if you want to be self sufficient and not have to stick to breakfast times, etc, at a hotel. If you have a good look around and check out the area before you book and also read some reviews you can't go wrong.

I wouldn't book a roomin someone's house though, only apartments.

John.

Rent a place out using Airbnb, works great a d very little commission compared to many.

Also used it to book places to stay but only in UK so far. It's great.

Have used it a few times. No problems if you use your wits.

I did read an article recently about a couple who use airbnb to rent a room and provided escorting services
