"It's a great climb..
Weather is so unpredictable when you get up top..
If it's sunny at the bottom I'd take a gillet for the descent;)"

I (J) am a bit further north than Applecross this weekend. The weather is actually not bad. It's quite windy though.
The Belach is a great climb, up there with some of the Alpine ones I done and just as though. The hairpins at the end are a killer.
Do try the kisshorn Seafood shed the food is delicious |

I come up the A1 to avoid motorway and its a nice drive that way. I head to Aviemore for overnight stop, is it still best to go through Edinburgh over the bridge or head left at Edinburgh and skirt round water? |

We'll fantastic time in Scotland again, I got up and over the Applecross climb from both sides so pleased about that. Also rode to Lower Diabaig omg how bloody steep is that!! Sadly no sexy Scottish women to be found although I did see some beautiful Hyland cows up close. Till next year then sunny Scotland |

Yes what is it with Scotland and average speed cameras! There everywhere now, all the way along A9 too! I was keeping to 60mph speed limit but everyone else was over taking me!?? Anyway it gave me more time to enjoy the beautiful scenery |

Done Applecross 4 times now on the road bike. Awesome climb, scary descent, and the up and down coastal road from Applecross back to Shieldag is a killer too. Enjoy though mate. |

Yeah its a fantastic climb so, so hard though from either side, you defo need some very low gears to make it at all doable Yes the coast road from Applecross back north is tough but gorgeous. I take my cyclocross bike which has good hydro disc breaks and a 1x11 set up. I've also done the cx route which is stunning too but make sure the weather is going to be good because there is a fair bit of scrambling and shouldering the bike |

Yeah i think its the long section before the hair pins that do the damage, about 2miles between 10-15% then the hair pins hit you when you're full of lactic!! |
