After reading the masquerade ball idea in the forum....i am willing to arrange this ball in the month of september....no date as yet obviously....
I am going to be looking into venues.... this involves costing up venues.....I am not asking for names just yet....but.....would the consensus be for a paid venue or a free to hire venue....and if a paid venue how much are people willing to spend? This will be in the glasgow area.
ideas accepted |

We'd love to come Jo, i think a paid venue would be good. If it's masquerade ball, be quite nice to get dressed up and go somewhere posh(ish) |

cool....just need to know what peeps are willing to pay if i go ahead with a paid social...
should be a good night and hopefully different to a normal social... we shall see |
Reply privately (thread closed by moderator)
Well we would be happy to pay upto £45 for a ticket. Thinking of outfit ideas all ready lol |
Reply privately (thread closed by moderator)
Don't know if we could stretch to £45 a ticket although would be willing to pay a bit extra to go maybe around the £30 mark each, and do agree it should be a wee bit posh it would give a better feel to it. So hopefully it will come off and there will be enough interest. xx |

I think people are used to paying a small amount to cover the obvious overhead but of course free is my fav price.
A little payment, no matter how much, shows at least some commitment to attending.
Just ma 2 bobs worth and good luck xxx

Defo dont think as much as £45 each, by the time you add on outfits, hotel and travel you are looking at a very expensive evening! Perhaps £10-£15. |

"Well we would be happy to pay upto £45 for a ticket. Thinking of outfit ideas all ready lol "
Thats a hell of a lot of money and i honestly dont think many will pay that for a nite out that would be £90 per couple plus hotels for some ,outfits and drinking money on the nite and babysitting fees for some not much change from £250 thats a dear nite out for a lot of people
anyway jo depending on dates and costs id come ....as malc said Free or small cost is always best xxx

We'd be interested. £30-£45 each might be too much though. £45 a couple, maybe. Depends on the venue and numbers. |

Hubby and I are 100% interested and our max would be £40 per head as we would need to book a hotel etc. |

I'd be willing to pay around £15 per person, that way it's not too pricey when adding in the cost of outfits, petrol, hotel room, baby-sitter etc. |

Don't think jo was thinking of more than £10 to 15, but could be the difference between a good venue or a fantastic venue. There are some good free venues around but jo wondered if asking for a reasonable cost would mean a better venue fitting for the occasion.
As Malc said a small cost also shows some commitment on those saying they will attend.

Yep, pay a non-refundable deposit at time of booking a place, makes it less hassle getting numbers right and keeps account of those who seriously do want to go. |

Well why would they charge differently for a social event? That's not the norm - the price is usually per person. |
Reply privately (thread closed by moderator)
In the other thread they started talking about private venues with playrooms available as in an 'eyes wide shut' scenario.
I think deciding on what type of gathering it would be, would determine what sort of venue to look for, and how much people would pay to go.
I think if it's just your bog standard social where only half attending bother to dress up (no offence intended) then go as cheap as possible.
But to make it an extra special night the price could go higher, and again if you were to go private, have a bar (and no outsider bar staff) then obviously the cost would be higher again.
We'd love to go whatever you decide is feasible - ideal scenario... in a private castle with rooms to stay over for £10pp...
Realistically, if you were able to get a fantastic secluded venue our limit would be £40pp

A burleaque club where all you need fork out for is entrance fee and hook up when in there?
Is that a daft idea?
Lose yourself in the crowd or mix with fab members?
Your check intro is "this is fab is'nt it"?

And Heather not taking names at mo ... At this stage I am just asking what people are willing to pay so I can then find a suitable venue for the ball |

HS are horribly expensive and if you go past midnight it gets truly frightening. Also, their venues all have hidden cameras for security.
And I don't think a castle in Edinburgh is a good choice for a night in Glasgow |

u aint kidding lol....casstles are a tad away also....means extra expensive taxi rides etc.... dont want to make it too costly as social evenings can be very expensive by the time u have paid for outfit, hotel food, social ticket, taxi, drinks....
i want it to be fancy and different not mega expessive and OTT... |

This would be the first social I'd be able to attend in months due to nightshifts on all the others. Really up for the idea and price range so far sounds reasonable (£10-£35 max). Great excuse to get dressed up and some masks for added anonymity. Count me interested. |

A paid venue is best.
Been to both paid and free,
Free venues tend to be where you mix with the public and it is not so good as there tends to be limited attendance
Paid venues are private so therefore you know that the person you talking to is in the same frame of mind, so saves any embarrassing moments. lol
£5 if it is a venue only
£10 if food provided.
We prefer venue only as we are not keen on the buffet thing, if you do not get up first you could be eating food that someone has touched with unwashed hands.

I think you will find that its more on over double the amount mentioned for this castle more like triple for the weekend as most castles dont hire for one day only xxxxx |
