Oooh! It's when it turns purple, 'cos it's so swollen and engorged, it aches and throbs. You have to grip it at it's base. The tip is so sensitive.
I was lucky, the Nurse knew exactly how to relieve the pressure that was building.
I asked if it was going to hurt, she said, 'yes, briefly', I gasped and moaned. I've never seen it spurt so far. The relief was instantaneous. She gripped the end and squeezed more out. It certainly pays to put yourself and your trust in the hands of an expert.
The secret is to pierce the centre of the thumbnail with a sharp needle, to release the build up of blood.
