Says NS re Brexit.
Ehhh.......an independent Scotland? Is that not an equal "leap in the dark"?
Certainly, first time around, AS didn't answer any of the major questions, like currency etc etc, and it would seem that NS hasn't learned any lessons from that.
Brexit is a "leap in the dark"; reminds me of pot, kettle, and black!!! |

But what is independence??? Surely that's a leap in the dark? We haven't heard a single thing from NS.
Well we have actually, she wants 'independence', but be subservient to Brussels??? That's not independence! Crazy!! |

I recall a few years ago people who wished to remain part of the UK were moaning about yes voters having an 'in your face' attitude. How the tables have turned now. All I'm seeing all over the social media is digs at the snp and nicola sturgeon. It's just purely fucking boring, really really boring...and I haven't even made up my mind what to way to vote as both sides haven't provided enough information to make an educated decision on.
Why can't people just be quiet about it, wait until we can look at the Brexit options then start actually debating facts. But no, let's just bicker about absolute pish wih points handpicked to suit your pathetic tunnel vision views.
To summarise, gies fucking peace mate |

By the same token, surely all the arguments for Brexit by the Uk were almost a carbon copy of those for Indy - yet Brexit good/ Indy bad. Go figure.
There was a plan, a vision, a guide if you will, as to the outline of what was presented as the Indy option within the run up to the vote.
Brexit simply meant Brexit. No plan, no vision, fake slogan on a bus and alienating every foreigner that's ever decided to make the UK their home. Slow hand clap.
And currency, while we're at it; the pound. Anyone can use it. Was never going to be an issue. |

Those questions were answered last time.
economy - oil
currency - pound
eu - rejoin
The problem is that none of these could be guaranteed. The promised oil surplus wouldn't have been used for a rainy day pot but in fact it would be required to try and fix a very leaky deficit. What astonishes me though is that with this hindsight, some people still want to go ahead. Independence at any cost.
With regards to the EU, best result would be a join the EFTA. The question I need answering is that if this was the case, how do we trade with our biggest partner? The rest of the UK? Won't be be bound to whatever Brexit trade deal is negotiated? If it's a bad deal then how is this in our interests? We'd be better of outside the EFTA and strike our own trade deals with our biggest trade partner which then leads to the question about why bothering with independence.. |

Ok....Brexit is 'kind of' a leap in the dark...for now.
But in 2 years we will have the answers. It is a fixed timetable. End of. Deals done by 29 March 2019.
Can anyone say the same thing about the SNP and independence? |

I believe that's not the case. Terms of the timetable are pretty loose. Could be up to two years - could also be more. Which makes Sky News' countdown clock more laughable.
I still don't think it will happen. Actual Brexit that is. |

My own personal opinion is that we will have some of it sorted by then but not all of it so it will become a bit of a damp squib.
I just wish we had kept the old EEC without the unelected European beaurocrats. |

I'm actually a no voter (until i find convincing enough yea arguments) but this is a silly point
... if we voted for independence we would get a timetable to decide the unknowns then too ...
its all unknown leap in the dark now and its all unknown leap in the dark if we vote for independence
I kind of like kid flash's idea of everyone waiting til we actually have some brexit facts before debating but unfortunately the snp would never allow that ... they want it permanently forefront on the table and it will be that way until they either get the result they want or are voted out of power ...
also realistically although we will know the initial terms in 2 years (ie benefits we no longer get and restrictions we are no longer bound by) experts have estimated it will more likely take up to 10 years for full trade deals to be agreed and longer again before we see the economic outcome of those ... there is no way that Scotland will wait 10 years for another referendum but if they go before that, its always going to be trading one lot of unknowns for another which weakens the no campaign ... any vote for no that was a vote for the status quo is a swing vote now as the status quo no longer exists

Unless every other member of the EU agrees to extend the timetable that 2 year date is a hard deadlinecafter which we would have to use article 49 to try rejoin if we didn't actually want to leave on the deal we got |
