I was listening to the radio this morning and the Presenter was talking about the attack in London yesterday and said something along the lines... 'Don't panick people', 'tell your children they are safe and that they are some nice people out there!'

Sorry but after the various terrorist events in Europe.

And reading about a mentally unstable French 16 years old entering his high school with guns and homemade grenades and hurting his peers and teachers to solve an issue!

I can't look at my kids and say to them they are safe!

I have to tell them there are some nasty and unstable people out there and to be aware of what's going on around them!

What do you think fabbers?

Do you tell your kids they are safe from violence? Do you think they are safe?

As the Mayor of London says, get used to it, terrorism is just a normal everyday thing in a multicultural society.

unfortunatly this is the truth. The one thing I do tell my kids is dont live in fear as this is what terrorists want. This will be a sore point for some but those who were choosing not to go to certain countrys because of terrorist attacks are you now going to leave the uk

the day you live in fear is the day they win .

when fear wins you are at the mercy of control and give up your own civil liberties

i will go about my business as normal. my kids are aware that there are some bad people out there but they are less than 1 % of the worlds populis . i do believe that the vast majority of people have good in them .

darkness cannot drive out darkness only light can do that .

hate cannot drive out hate only love can do that

We are safer than we have ever been, more people were killed in the 70's or 80's or even the 90's by home grown terrorism (IRA,UVF and so on) than by Islamic terrorists,.Better detection rates for crime than ever before, so Yes I feel safer than ever for myself and my Family..

wonder if you'd feel the same way if you stayed in London or some where there has been a terrorist attack or maybe one of these so called no go areas in England.

or maybe some small town that has been flooded with illiterate backwards thinking people.

don't think it's quite affected Scotland yet in the same way it as affected other parts of the country like Birmingham etc etc

or you certainly don't hear about it.

maybe in time we will who knows.

There was a terrorist attack in the tiny town I come from in Normandy, 6 months ago I think that, killed a person and injured a few others!

Little was said about it out with France!

Indeed don't live in fear but be aware of your surroundings in certain situations.

Maybe my view differs because I know a family that was involved in the Nice attack! And worried about my own during the Paris attack!

Having lived in London for over 16 years, through the 'Ring of steel' and various other events including the 7/7 bombings, my advice is simple.

Don't let it worry you too much because that's exactly what these people want. They want to cause fear and panic.

Yes be vigilant.

Yes report anything you deem out of place or suspicious.

But that goes for anyone living anywhere.

We actually live in a pretty safe country.

More people died from smoking related diseases than terror atrocities.

That doesn't make it right though and as others have said, my condolences go to the families who have lost loved ones and I wish those hurt a speedy recovery.

But don't let it rule your lives. If you do, 'they' win

I was encouraged by Theresa May's announcement that since 2013, 13 terrorist attacks have been thwarted by the security services following intelligence. (I think those are the figures, I'm a bit deaf). It shows that undercover operations ARE indeed working and although we should remain vigilant and avoid complacency we are perhaps safer than we think.

That being said, we ALL have a duty as citizens to be aware.

Ok - YOU'RE WRONG.

True Islam is actually a peaceful religion.

But as with everything, when it gets twisted to serve people's agendas and their desire for power it becomes something totally different.

In fact, Christianity has been responsible for more killings historically than any other religion.

But, as usual it all gets twisted to suit someone's agenda.

Religion has been responsible for more wars and acts of violence than anything else. Crusades ring any bells???

So, that's why I can say you're wrong about true Islam.

If only EVERYONE stood together as a united human race. Maybe then we wouldn't have wars.

Just my view of course

Kids are growing up too fast these days as it is. My daughters 8 as far as she's concerned she's safe. Even if she wasn't I'd want her to think she is. Sometimes fear of a traumatic event can be worse than the event itself. There's nutcases in all walks of life. As terrible as these incidents are they are isolated. Airport attack aside when was the last time Glasgow witnessed a terror attack ? I'm more concerned with beasts and what she could be exposed to online than what a random terror attack could bring.

Someone I know did raise a naive child!

Her daughter was kept away from the news from years! As they would be too upsetting!

At age 7, after school one day she asked her mum what's a pervert? The mum's reply was, you don't need to know about that just yet!

Thankfully, the daughter is now a teenager and a little more aware but still very naive

please explain in what way this is about race? surprised it's taken this long though for someone to mention it

like i said name calling and shaming is all you have.

maybe we should take a look at countries outwith Western Europe in those years?

give it time i'm quite sure those Western figures will soon increase, though you will still probably won't bother your ass and support open borders etc etc until it lands on your doorstep and affects your personal life, then it'll be to late lol

maybe we should include crime stat's of forcing woman, girls and boys into sex acts against their will etc of the countries that have opened their doors to these people over the last few years. shall talk about how the police and main media have tried to hold back details of the perpetrators in fear of being branded so called racists. shall we talk about swimming pools, the advice given to women to avoid being attacked, the riots etc?

maybe you'd like a game of Taharrush? lol

you are aware of what is actually happening in these countries, and you want to bring it here?

Madness.

I think it depends on the age of the children.

Also the risk of actually getting caught up in such an event is very very low - you are much more likely to be hit by a car so better to make sure they know how to cross the road safely.

I think of course, that it depends on the age of the kids! My kids are able to process information/have a reasoning and I can have a discussion with them!

I think it's best to let the 2/3 years olds to their terrible twos and their Legos! lol

I felt safer in London on Thursday the day after the attack than I did in Glasgow on Saturday night. Even when I stayed the night in Whitechapel a very Muslim area the scariest sight was a rat. In Glasgow on Saturday night I picked up my son as he works security on the doors. The d*unks were scarier than anything I encountered in London. They are unpredictable and fights break out in the street.
