Put on about a pound over the weekend!

So 5k speed run this morning, and strict diet for the next couple days so I can be back on track for the scale on Wednesday morning.

That's the plan anyway! lol

"Trying to be good today and skipping lunch "

Nooooo, never skip meals, if you want to lose weight you have to eat more !!

You gotta keep that metabolism ticking over.

Drinking water is key also, if you could drink 2 1.5lt bottles as day you wouldn't be going wrong but you would be going to the toilet a lot lol

How long after exercise West?

You're best chatting to your GP. Get your blood pressure checked and your cholesterol. Then once you have that, hit the gym. Good luck x

Not much you can do... Stretching after your session, cold shower, ice, arnica cream

In the perfect world hot then cold water and repeat but who has 2 baths ? Or do it leg at a time one ice one hot water bottle and switch, gets the blood circulating.

Key is to really stretch when you finish the session or do some myofascial work.

Thanks, Tbh when I am finished a session with my P.T I usually have to hold on to something to walk dont think I could handle any stretching lol.

Ill give the ice bag and hit water bottle a try next time.

Thanks for the advice.

You must have done too much!

There's a difference between exercise stiffness/ache and injury pain if that makes sense.

Depending on the one you feel, adjust your next leg workout.

If massaging it is always towards the heart, so from your knee up!

Arnica crean will help your muscle fibres to recover and heal.

Good luck

I did bring it up to my P.T I thought he was pushing me to hard, he laughed and assured me I really aren't being pushed thst hard.

Its not a injury, Its the first time my quads have had a heavy workout so I think its just that, and I am a bit of a wimp

Ill try thst cream, I was using the cream Mrs has and although it works slightly its just not enough.

On another note put another 2lbs on but definitely looking thinner

Lol

Well, wimp or not. Your PT should listen to you and give you advice on how to reduce this! Or adapt his program so you can still function after his session!

And not pushed as hard compared to what?? People are different, and react differently to exercise!

May be you are not the wimp! Maybe he's the one not adapting his program to you!

Just a thought

100% agree with Max on this one.

If you can't walk right after a session then your doing too much, I've done this many a time and from experience it only hinders your next gym day. He should be building you up gradually. I've had some wicked DOMS in the passed and it's not enjoyable at all. Walking down steps sideways and having to pull on my trousers to get my foot onto the clutch. Not much joy.

Recover is oh so important so I'm hoping he's helping with this

Abso! A lot of people think that because it is sore it is good and workout is working! Unfortunately, not always true.

Maybe read about... delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and muscle fibres micro trauma to understand what's happening to your body, that might help you reduce the pain and understanding it.

But as said above, it means you can't give 100% to your next session.

Have a chat with your PT, 'challenge' him and I am sure that you will see a difference in his attitude to your workout!

Trust what your body is telling you

I'm getting back into it after breaking my foot slowly but I'm getting there always makes me feel better after a workout or dancing or a swim. it gives me a good chance to get creative in the kitchen, I think some get stuck eating the same things all the time better to look at things and see what new healthy dishes you can come up with xx

Your trainer should know that walking lunges are crucifying if you have done them before or for a while tho. Can take days to recover for them :/

"C is doing the kiltwalk too, he's doing the full 25 miles "

walking is a very different animal to running .

done all 5 kiltwalks in the past.

footcare is more important than fitness . good seamless socks and good trainers . well worn in . i also favoured covering my feet in vaseline and never had a blister once . the kiltwalk shuffle the days after is fun .

also merino wool breeks are a must !! do not go commando ffs

Abso, I would rather run than walk!

If using a rucksack, even a light one remember to protect shoulder area, seen some bad injuries from the straps

"Trying to be good today and skipping lunch "

Never ever skip good healthy regular meals.

Eventually your body will go into starvation mode, hanging on to all the fat and cannibalising your lean tissue.

Your body will desperately store what fat it has and if you keep skipping meals or being on a very calorie restricted diet, anything you eat will be stored as fat.

Basically you will become more soft, flabby, weak etc.

And when you can't keep doing the usual ridiculous "diets" out there and you basically need to eat much more again you will balloon up with water and fat continuing to fuck up your metabolism and digestive system.

Pm me if I can help you a bit.

Saying that I have just read a very interesting article about starvation in a running magazine last week. Unfortunately it is in French so I can't refer it to you.

The article is about running in the morning without having had breakfast.

Which I do because... I can!

The article says that it all depends on the body and the metabolism you have.

The article also says that this is a technique frowned upon in Europe but used in other countries.

The intensity of the workout has to be medium for best benefit and the food and fluid intake after the exercise has to be appropriate ie proteins etc...

Also the Ethiopians etc long distance runners go even further as they do sessions of high intensity while the body had no food. Again after sessions, food and fluid intake at to be appropriate.

I personally don't skip lunch as my body and mind can't cope with that!

We all have different bodies and metabolism. Do what's good for your body is my opinion.

You should google am sure there are stuff on it. Very interesting reading

Been to spin class today and off to golf shortly. My handicap still high though.

Doing the moonwalk so need to keep up the activity! Still another stone in weight to lose though

Skipping lunch isn't good for you!

If you're trying to lose body fat, you need to eat 5 times a day.

Don't think that bubbly eating you'll lose weight!

If you're doing weights at the gym and cardio, you'll prob be heavier due to muscle!

But you'll be losing body fat!

There is some truth in that to be fair, exercising first thing when your up and awake on an empty stomach will cause a partial increase in metabolic rate.

The best time to eat to absorb carbs, proteins, fats and sundry is immediately after a workout but no longer than an hour after training.

This will only work in commutes hard training individuals who's diet is exactly on point day in day out.

Your insulin levels are also at their lowest first thing upon waking so exercising and then asap after your done refuelling will cause the insulin levels to spike, forcing the food, supplements into the muscles more efficiently.

Indeed but again know your body and adapt to your own body... same, some need to adapt a session if suffering from diabetes and depending on tablets or insuline injections to make up for the fluctuations

If you fancy a wee challenge or to build up your endurance then once around Arthur Seat is pretty much 5k, you can start by the duck pond and take on the nice steep hill but you get to finish off coming down the hill and on the grass too for a nice fast finish

I'm sure that's red wine and I can't drink that, gives me really bad hangovers. And I'm fairly certain it's only if you limit its to a single small glass.

"Im needing a personal trainer ,totally no motivation these days "

Don't be too hard on yourself.

Nothing wrong in needing a wee break or you can adjust to do a light workout or do something different like going for walk or a swim.

Also, have a look at your vitamin intake.

Sometimes a good idea to do a wee course of Multivitamin over the winter.

Maybe you just need a wee boost of VitaminC, VitaminD cos of lack of sunlight and Zinc to boost your immune system.

Going for a 5k run this morning but I don't think I'll be near Mary Keitany's time of 15 mins! lol

Have a good week everyone before the snow!

Still doing better than me, though bought new trainners, and joinned a unisex gym Induction's next Monday, might get to a few classes before then but gonna need to book an ambulance.
