Chatting to Jim about Ann Summers night and jokingly he said why cant we come (pardon the innuendo). Thought Why cant men come along too, well apart from the obvious risk of it turning into an orgy lol. So decided to see what like minded people think
Anybody had any? Been to any? Interested in one? |

I once tried to be an Ann Summers rep. I wanted to do parties for men who were maybe too shy to go into a shop to buy lingerie/toys for their partners. The company refused point blank, telling me it would be illegal. |

"It's actually illegal and part of a reps contract that men can't attend. "
This makes me sad (- see my sad face) because I think it really is a good idea.
Maybe some way to emulate the same thing without it actually being an Anne Summers party? Obviously also avoiding whichever aspect of it is illegal. |

"There is no way it would be illegal, against company policy maybe but not illegal."
From what little information I found apparently partners present means ladies more shy so spend less . I'd also imagine some toys , whips and restraints may be overused at a party with everyone |

I think the rep/host should be allowed to decide who attends the party and I suspect it would increase sales if it was couples.
One of their reasons against men attending is for the safety of the rep. It's bollocks though - d*unk woman are pretty scary sometimes. Lol |

Seems a crazy rule ... i understand having guys there might make some of the wonen uncomfortable and then not participate as much / buy as much etc
But its not like its a public party open to all ... the host chooses who attends and surely would know what geoup of people they could put together without spoiling the fun ... seems like they missed a trick by outlawing it tbh |

We are defo far more filthy in a situation like an anne summers night. Maybe the men there would calm us down lol. Its all just fun thats why couple reps would be a great idea |

My guess is that it's more about image: they just don't want to be seen to be involved with full on sex parties. They'll have had the potential tabloid headlines in the forefront of their minds when creating these rules. |

"Its hardly like they are running a family brand though "
You're not wrong there, but I think they're making a calculation of where they sit in terms of general acceptability. Two stereotypes:
* a group of girly girls sits in a living room sipping wine and tittering while they peruse sex toys to enhance their monogamous sex lives: generally socially acceptable with a hint of risqué. Kaching.
* a sex obsessed group of men and women have a wild sex party using toys and sexual equipment supplied by Anne Summers: not generally acceptable and a bit of a reputation risk.
But that's all guessing. I could easily be wrong. |

Yeah that sounds about right definetly a reputation risk. still not socially acceptable practice for a brand to connect itself to. huge market though |

Huge market but maybe one for other sex toy providers (not sure if I can name them) as Anne Summers seems to want to position itself as very accessible to everyone. They are happy to be on the high street etc...
others that also do more wide ranging toys might be more willing to?
Hope that makes sense? |

Sure does. Well we've definetly peaked our interest in a party. Putting out a call to organisers out there lol. |

Ann Summers ? ....is that not an out of date sex shop ..?
I would presume in relation to sexy lingerie Women would purchase elsewhere ..
However ...It would seem a good idea for couples alike

There are other companies tgat provide these kind of parties but where couples are welcome.
We looked into it for the social we hosted last year but the rep never got back to us.
I can't recall the name but when I get home I'll have a look and see if I can find it. |

The reps have a contract with the company that doesn't allow men to be present. I think that people are confusing criminality with a breach of a contract. |

I think you're right. I actually said that Ann Summers told me it would be illegal, not that I believed it. They said that mixed groups would be organising an orgy and menrioned "immoral earnings". Even though I had said parties for men to shop for their partners.
It was also a depressingly long time ago and likely a different moral perspective.
I doubt if a party organised through here would end up anything other than an orgy, though. Hopefully. |
