Ok so my crazy mate has just asked if ill drive to Scotland (6.5hrs) on Saturday to Watch the rugby with her ... She is rugby mad..loves the Scots and neeeeeeeds to go apparently ...
Being just as daft as her I've agreed .... leaving 5am Saturday ..
Can anyone recommend cheap rooms..hostels ...hotel etc in Edinburgh ..I'm guessing common popular ones will be sold out .... Anyone know any little hidden gems? ?? |

Your best to actually stay a wee bit out the city and just use the train in and out.
Even stay in Glasgow and get the train through from queen street to Haymarket. The train is always a good laugh and plenty of banter. |

Try the Premier Inn at Bathgate. Rooms for this weekend are about 80.00 for a double or twine room. It's just off the M8, 5 minute walk to the train station into Edinburgh for the rugby.
Hope you both have a blast, always love being in town when the Welsh ladies come up!  |

The premier inn Bathgate is about a 30 minute walk to Bathgate train station.
Certainly wouldn't recommend Bathgate for anyone visiting Scotland, especially if you are having a late night out after the rugby past the times of the last trains. Will cost you upwards of £40 for a taxi back and that's a set price. |

Well fuck that then!
My bad on the length of walk to the train station.
So what's your solution then? Besides Air B'n'B, surely paying £40 for a set taxi fare back to Livi or Bathgate is a much better solution than paying vastly over inflated hotel prices in town, some by as much as £100 more than the normal price.
Even including a 10 minute cab ride to Bathgate station on the way into town! |

Just wouldn't pay 80 quid for a bathgate hotel 30 miles from Edinburgh when you can pay similar in Edinburgh and be in or around the city centre! |

So far we have a flight up ..No return

You'll have a great time! we always go to the Wales home games and been to Cardiff a number of times.. always a cracking weekend! I'm also short of accommodation in Edinburgh for the Saturday night.. Everywhere will be booked so im just gona wing it down the grass market and Espionage and hopefully pull!! Lol.. Never pull when you book a room always do when you don't!! Haha
You could try the university student accommodation called Edinburgh first.. They have hundreds of rooms cheap cheerful used them plenty times, but I think it's still term time this wknd. Id rather pay for a room in therefore though.. walking miles waiting and paying for a taxi pished in the freezing cold Edinburgh rain in your wee red pleated skirt... You'd be glad of paying over the odds believe me.. Done it many times.. (kilt;-))

I'd go the the consensus. Tune is cheap and cheerful, or any premier inn. There around 4 possibly more, all with walking from the tram line. I'll be out watching the match in a pub ...again there are so many to chose from but a great atmosphere in the city so I'll be there! |
