Where are you thinking of taking it? I'd strongly recommend avoiding PC World. I.e. DO NOT take it there!!! They WILL look through your photos.
Does it at least turn on?
If it's not in warranty, you could always get a suitably knowledgeable person to remove the hard drive and then you could send it in for repair without the disk. |

Have you tried plugging it into an external monitor to see if you get any screen at all? |

Be warned, that some techs will insist on wiping your hard drive during repair. If you can get the laptop open, and can remove the hard drive, it would be possible to recover your files from it using a SATA cable, to another computer, then delete them from the drive, replace it, and take for repair. |

This is why access to a traditional desktop is handy.
Can plug the laptop hard drive in as a slave drive then copy/move/backup everything to the master...
Sounds like you have a hard ware issue. If motherboard is fcuked, you're better off getting a new laptop. |

Agree with the advice on here OP. Had the same issue. Took the hard drive out and put it in an external caddy so I could access the files. Sounds like the motherboard could be goosed.
Hopefully you have access to another PC to get your pics safely stored
Might I suggest a cloud app like Box for future storage? 10gb free storage |

May sound obvious but check the fan is not clogged up with dust and dirt - this can cause it to stick, then the board overheats and will shut down to protect the chips.
Failing that it may be a motherboard or bios fail as others have indicated.
Difficulty of getting the hard drive out varies from model to model - sometimes their easy to access by removing a few screws but on others they are not designed to make dismantling easy. Google for your make and model as there are often YouTube videos showing how to dismantle and reassemble. Good luck |
