"Can someone explain what is burns night everyone keeps talking about? "
Its a scottish tradition celebrating the life and work of robert burns, a scottish poet.
Firstly we head for the hills and catch our haggis (plural haggi). Now just like our whisky it can taste different depending on whether you catch a highland haggis or a lowland haggis.
Its then plucked, deboned and beheaded before being cooked.
Its traditionally served with tatties (mashed potatoes) and neeps(mashed turnip).
Enjoy x |

"I'd rather celebrate Burns Night than St Patrick's Day, as many confused Scots choose to do. "
Damn annoying. I'm quarter Irish but wouldn't even think of dressing up like a fucking leprechaun. We should get St Andrew's Day as a public holiday and ban Guinness publicity day!
However Wtf does eating haggis have to do with Burns? Just cos he wrote one poem about it. I already had haggis twice this year, so went to McDonald's on way home from work. |

Well for me.... Burns Night per say is all aboot living and enjoying your life. I'm doon in London toon piping and addressing the haggis. All is good. Burns was a farmer, socialist, a royalist and a tax man in his time. A wealthy man and a pauper in no time at all. When he penned the Kilmarnock edition as it's known. .. a mere 623 copies. He became a rich man.... For a short time. He walked with lairds and beggers and called all friends. I wish I was mare like him. We can all learn fae the Bard. Open your eyes, your mind n brain. Read a bit and you might just find a wee bit of Rabbie in you. |
