I know a few people that had to get antibiotics. Still worth going to the GP to get checked out.

Don't have a doctor so ended up having to go to A&E and all I got was a row of three wumin for not having a doctor

I've had it since New Year's eve and I'm still struggling. Told to rest, drink plenty fluids and keep warm. Had to keep going to work as no work, no pay. Heyho.

Had no choice I had it before I went to work in Spain and when I got back 4 weeks later it returned worst , nhs hotline would t help and I have no doctor

You are meant to go to the doctor if a cough hasn't gone after 3 weeks. Please go. It may be whooping cough without the whoop.

Drink plenty fresh pineapple juice. Enzymes in the juice kill the bacteria in your throat. Worked for me.

From feedback I've received it's a steroid that is needed to combat this particular coughing bug.

Its not going to cure it but Broncho Stop cough medicine and cough pastilles certainly help alleviate the symptoms. Both relatively new on the market (a year or so) and i think far better than the more known cough sweets/bottle.
