Don't know, was hoping someone could help me out with that. Realistically what I want is somewhere that is a good price and isn't full of wanks who run around the place like there better than everyone. |

Look into crossfit gyms , more a community than you standard globbo gym that will be mobbed by earphone clad grunters , machine hogging snapchatters and wanks of all shapes n sizes .
Cheap isnt always best . Tried several like exercise 4 less and pure gym but easily accessable to those you dont like .
Crossfit is a bit more expensive but for me its worth the extra cash for the community and level of coaching.
Failing that take up some trials and see where works best for you |

You get a few of those at every gym, I just ignore it unless they're being really obnoxious, then I tell them to jog on.
Pure gym works for me as I like the rolling contract, that it's open 24/7 so I can fit it around work, and that there is a variety of equipment and classes.
It really depends on what you're looking for tbh. I'd like a pool and steam room, but then I'd probably never actually do any exercise |

There is no debate in my opinion . You want size and aethstetics? Body build , you want size and strength ? Power lift . You want lean and aerobic capacity hammer cardio . You want to lose some weight and improve some fitness batter some spin and hiit classes . You want a combination of them all alongside mobilty then find a good crossfit gym and try that .
Either way if folk are out there trying to improve themselves and get in better shape for whatever reason and they enjoy what they do then more power to them i say.

You want to lose some weight and improve some fitness batter some spin and hiit classes . You want a combination of them all alongside mobilty then find a good crossfit gym and try that .
Either way if folk are out there trying to improve themselves and get in better shape for whatever reason and they enjoy what they do then more power to them i say.

Just the answer I anticipated! My comment was said in a tone of sarcasm that wasn't fully transmitted.
I agree with you on the part about people trying to better themselves, however I'm also of the belief that if someone is new to exercising then crossfit is perhaps too high impact on an untested body (not necessarily the original poster) and they are perhaps better starting with the basics such as perfecting form/techniques given the intensity of WOD's - overlooked by a lot of crossfit instructors, hence why it's imperative you get in with the right group.
The things you listed can be combined in any gym if you have the right guidance and follow the right programme too (Kris Gethin has some very good ones on bodybuilding.com).
Me personally, I do powerlifting, swimming, rugby, krav maga and boxing. A variety of social circles and not one rope climb in sight |

Perhaps ive been very fortunate but the level of coaching has been superb in particular with oly lifts . And any gym worth its salt should be putting safety first . Has a lad hitting near 20 stone i can now do stuff i never could before such as handstand push ups , double unders and kipping pull ups . Not a kicknin the arse of a muscle up .throw in all my lifts have went up massivley So for me it works great and i would happily recommend it to anyone at any level so long as they look into and research whats near them

I really like crossfit. My only problem with it, is it's exercise and not training. If you understand the difference you'll know what I mean.
So for me crossfit is time limited, has a shelf life. It is good at the start and will quickly get you to a level of deminishing returns, but is unable to take you passed.
The point where random exposure to hard physical stress no longer works, and must become non-random in order that progress continues. At this point exercise needs to become training.
It's about needs and choices I guess. Once you notice your at the point of deminishing returns, you can choose to stick or twist. |

Hmmm no sure i would agree . Sure if all you ever done was wod after wod it would getvold quite quick but in a normal sesh you would do your warm up and mobility , some skill work or a strength element . Tbe classic 5 x 5 is normal then onto your wod . Most in the place i use are also running strength cycles or working on a sport specific element as well . And for me thats the beauty . Yes wods you can go faster or heavier but there is always new skills or better ways to be efficient at a movement . Probably 90 percent also do oly lifting sessions workin on technique . But ot compliments whatever sport people play we have high level rugby , rowers runners , hockey and footballers . Also a pro boxer working beside guys and gals in their 50s just trying to keep a bit healthy . No egos no dramas and plenty laughs support and encouragement . As i say maybe ive hit lucky and i know others out there are poor but if they are just throwing random wods together with no thought process then their programming needs questioned . |

Crossfit didn't work for me. I like to be in charge of my training. I found the crossfit was more a 'sport' orientated training than a 'fitness' orientated training. Not sure if that makes sense lol. A great community if you are 'into' crossfit which I am not. I have my own sort of interest. I use exercise 4 less and love it! Great value for money. Great people and great clientele. A good way to find people into the same things you are training wise and building a network of people who support each other. I would defo recommend hiit classes

There is "the gym" across from hamilton £16 per month open 24hours plent equiptment. You need to be self sufficient though and the trainers are just looking to get you to pay for personal sessions, they wont help with anything else. |
