Male only gyms

Are there any gyms in Glasgow that are male only? I'd rather not train in a mixed gym. I remember one guy said the old school gyms have very few women.

I don't want the hassle it can bring. I want to start lifting weights and not see make up clad girls that think the men are perving at them.

So do you know any gyms?

So it's sexist for female only gyms too?

Humiliate me? By lifting a heavier weight than me? If you think that's humiliation then you are a bit of a knob tbh.

I knew someone would agree.

That's why I liked iPods. Music without the distraction.

Haha! Loving this!

Off subject but that's why it's a public forum lol

I can also relate to what you are saying!

That's why I don't use the gym. I don't like the atmosphere... between the females full of make up chatting non stop and the guys holding equipments lifting silly weights, taking selfies and showing off! I don't find it relaxing!

And for your info, I have no make up on what so ever and sweat patches all over when I exercise!

Am not there to play Miss France!

If I am going to a public gym, it's because I'm away from home and I'd go there after doing other stuff, so I would indeed have make up on, but it's not specific to the gym, I just like to wear make up.

I'm not there to look at anyone else either, I spend the whole time focused on my own workout and make a point of not making eye contact with anyone and so I'm unaware of anyone "perving" on me, if they are.

By the end of a normal weight lifting session, my make up will probably be smudged from sweat anyway, but I'm not there to look pretty and I don't care what anyone else is doing.

Is it not just about going to a gym and focusing on your own shit anyway?

Each to their own as always though. Hope you find your male-only gym.

Thank you for the great reply. I joined pure gym almost a year ago and it wasn't my type of place. I had old fattie football joggies and an old skip hat. I stuck out like a sore thumb. Haha.

Although I've not been for a while, when I go to the gym I'm there to work. There are females with a full face of make-up who do very little work, and there are the men who think they are gods gift, then you have a good mix of old, male, female, and all shapes and sizes folk who are there for various reasons.

I've never been one for faffing around in the morning putting my face on and making sure I don't have a hair out of place, so i really don't care what folk may be thinking when I'm a red sweaty mess in the gym.

I'm also not bothered by what others are doing and will work around them if I have to.

I guess its only really an issue if you let it be.

All I see is a guy who asked for advice about any male only gyms ... yet rather than helping, he's now being judged on his reasoning.

When I trialed the Pure gym, a lot the girls would congregate at the mats, wear skimpy clothes, make up and all, chat and gossip. Some guys would do the same but not as much. I never looked forward to going. Then you need to worry about them assuming you are perving on them. It's just not worth it. It wasn't conducive for my goals.

It's stuns me that there are female gyms out there that

none of you are complaining about but when a man would like access to similar facilities, fuck that guy. I'd be more likely to listen to criticism if you weren't as laughably hypocritical.

I think thats a fair comment, there are female only gyms, so why not male only as well?

And tbf I'd feel happier in a gym full of males. A lot of women in gyms are to clique, judgemental and bitchy (I said a lot. Not all).

Thank you for the great reply. Maybe it's not a male on gyms that I'm looking for but a less commercial gym. Perhaps it was just that particular Pure Gym.

I don't think it matters where you go to now. There will always be that minority of folk you know are judging you.

I'm overweight at the moment so expect judgement, but at a healthy weight I'm a size 14, which I'm happy with, I know i'll never be a size 8 its not the way I'm made.

But even at that there are a minority of folk in the gym that are still judging me.

But I'm thick skinned so if they're judging me, they're leaving someone else alone x

I am about 10 hours behind with the popcorn and tango...

Yes, you are correct there are some people who just pose in the gym ( both male and female)

The ones who just want to workout get on with it.

I go to pure gym near where i stay...it has a female section. A majority of women head straight there.

OP...i have no idea where in Glasgow you are, there is a gym in the southside ( Thornliebank- Glasgow Fitness)....might be what you are looking for dude
