I normally send a message 'Hi how are you' along with face pic. I accept that I may not be what some people are looking for and no reply is recieved. What I want to ask fellow fabbers is, do you think it's a naff way to make initial contact. I only want to be respectful and not pushy but should I say more in my first message? Thanks for your help peeps |

I think it's 'naff' that at 47 you are asking others how you should approach folk |

Read the profile of the person you are messaging and see what they are into. Do they have likes that you are also into if so ask them about them. Send a message to engage the other person to reply back and also attach face pic.
Though if women want then FAF works for me if you want to send me message. |

Surprised to hear women saying the ol' fancy a fuck line is a good approach, it seems to be regularly scorned in people's statuses so I would never do it. I just go for a simple intro with a few face pics and it leave it in the hands of the other person to see if they want to chat.
Maybe I should just be more direct! |

This is good advice in my opinion |

Ah thank you - should have guessed
Actually I might use that next time I'm messaging - sure to save me a bit of time typing. I'm willing to bet that in addition to the cock pics the Ladies and Couples will appreciate the brevity |

I have a different approach, I don't send the initial message. Women and couples get so many messages I don't really see the point in adding to their already full inboxes.
I log in, chat away to my friends and place my awful banter in the forums. You find other fab users will get intouch with you |

I try and open dialogue with someone with sending a face pic and how are you, it's nice and easy and starts you off.I also read their profile and try and add a personal touch. For instance if they have tattoos I ask about them as I also have tattoos and it is common ground. Although my approach has vary success. |

Hi how are you is a reasonable opener in our opinion. If we get that and like the look of the sender then we'd expect more in the 2nd message.
Regularly see folk say they don't have time to reply to all messages yet still seem to expect guys to have the time to sit and write war and peace as a first message. It's surely demoralising for guys who do send a lengthy message only to see it deleted without reply. |

Thank you for the above J and S.
Nail on the head.
There's no point writing loads on first contact if the likely hood is that it often doesn't even get opened.
I quick hello, this is me should be enough but some expect sugar on top. And yes it is demoralising being ignored.
If someone is kind enough to reply they will receive plenty of chat on the second one... |

A hi, how are you both is fine for us, a pic if you're happy with that, if not the at can follow later. If we like the look of the profile, or would like to chat more, there's plenty of scope for conversation in future messages.
As has been said, not much point in writing War & Peace for the message to be simply deleted. |

I'm not gonna apologise for being amazed that some folks ask the most basic of questions about how to interact with others |

It certainly can be - we ge told to write something witty and interesting, to personalise it (which can be hard to do as some lady and couple profiles haven't had much thought or effort put into them) and then to see it deleted seconds after being read is a bit of a kick in the ..... |

Exactly. You're as likely to get a response from a quick intro and a face pic as you are from a witty/charming long winded message. People will decide straight away if they want to interact so it makes no odds really IMHO. |

I don't think anyone has said fancy a fuck works. Certainly doesn't for us but a nice wee introduction may. Fancy a fuck will get you blocked |

Always think it's more polite to send a friend invite and only introduce myself if accepted.
Rubs some people up the wrong way but that helps me cut the wheat from the chaff.
