"Dunno that i would buy em off the street.... just go to the docs and say your libido has crashed and you cant "stay up"... I got mine there."
That's an interesting one. Pfizer, who make Viagra, say on their website in response to the question
"Does Viagra improve libido?"
"Viagra is not an aphrodisiac and will not increase sexual desire."

I believe the phrase "cant stay up" would have overridden the libido one and that will be why the Doctor prescribed it!
I also believe Pfizer will be ok with this reason for the prescription so no need to consult their website. |

That was such an obvious come back especially from your good self! pmsl
PS - Next time I will try not to show you that it is best to read all of what someone posts and not just pick out the bits you want so you can put them down (no pun intended to the previous poster) |

You sound surprised by Pfizer's statement, but why?
Viagra isn't designed to 'get you in the mood', it's designed to help certain guys once they're in the mood!! |

Not in the least surprised. I'm sure I've said as much previously on Fab without quoting the source. |

Can you not get Viagra prescribed from TESCO's now? I'm sure I read somewhere that Tesco pharmacists can prescribe within minutes! Just fill in a form and answer a few questions. Dont hold me to it...but sure its true in the bigger stores.

Tesco pharmacy says
"FREE Erectile Dysfunction service
Tesco Pharmacy offers a FREE Erectile Dysfunction (ED) service that can help determine any lifestyle factors that may be contributing and whether medical treatment may be appropriate. Your chat is held in the private consultation area and is discreet and confidential.
They can tell you if you’re eligible for an NHS prescription for ED medication.
They can check if your current medicines may be contributing to your ED.
They can screen you for possible underlying health causes.
They can direct you to the best person to speak to.
They may be able to sell you an effective ED treatment."

Reality is they might (will)sell it to you if you have ED. The stories of staying hard for hours are over-exaggerated as you still need stimulation to maintain an erection.
If there is no underlying obvious cause eg diabetes, you would probably qualify for NHS treatment. Reality there is there are too few consultants to refer cases to so lifelong treatment is the most likely option. |

I'd imagine it would be the other way. Pharmacists, to echo another thread, are professionals and will act purely in the best interests of the patient they're advising without thought for Tesco's profits.
I believe there are reported cases where an erection simply won't go down after recreational use of Viagra. That's a dangerous situation.

There are indeed too few consultants in this field but your GP ought to be able to diagnose and prescribe as appropriate with the need for a hospital visit and, though I might be wrong about this, an NHS prescription filled in Scotland would be free of charge |

Without a medical consult I'm not sure pharmacists can sanction NHS prescriptions for ED. Even with a GP visit prescriptions from NHS are not a given. Apart from blood testing and discussing lifestyle there's nothing else a GP can do. Some cases need ultrasound and further investigation but there are too few referral possibilities. My point was that Viagra and similar do not guarantee a persistent hard on and stimulation is still required |

Although it was advertised as "all prescriptions are now free in Scotland" there is some small print that means that " NOT all prescriptions are now free in Scotland"
Some still carry a prescription levy which means that some prescriptions can be free for one patient but a charge is applied to others which can be dependant on what other medical conditions they also have. |

Well, English residents pay £7.40 in Scotland but Welsh and NI's are free when made up in Scotland. As far as I'm aware, GP's can write private prescriptions for Viagra or the like until they think the issue becomes a medical-emotional matter then NHS ones can be issued. |

Viagra will only be given out free of charge on the NHS in Scotland if your GP is good enough to test you for health problems and enroll you the Andrology program to have you further tested for the causes of the problem by specialists in that field (or certainly that's what my GP said to me but I'm in the fife area).
Otherwise I was told I'd have to pay the £20-£30 for 4 50mg tablets.
Although I know someone that gets 10 100mg tablets for £30 online from India and aparently they're the real thing, will get back to you about that though lol. |

doesn't 'viagra' ordered off the net just increase your chance of having a heart attack??
without even going into what could be in them - even if they did happen to be real, if they are not prescribed to you, how do you know they are safe for you to take?

An article on the news earlier spoke of there being 200,000 adverse reactions/ year in the EU to drugs which had been fully tested, licensed, prescribed by a proper doctor and dispensed by a qualified pharmacist - yet people want to buy Viagra over the internet? |

Someone mentioned above, how its a bit more of a process than simply going to the docs and asking for them to be prescribed to you, theres referal's to a dept at your local hospital, various checks before the "safe" version of viagra or similar is prescribed for you.
I think thats what brings about the "Quick-buy" and the casual,"will give it a try", not criticising anyone for either, but yes, the quick-buy has the usual "seems too good to be true" sales trick to it. |
