Edinburgh

Watched that programme briefly on TV the other day... Celebrities and their homes or something.

I lasted 5 minutes because I was rolling my eyes too much

One wife with, 50 millions in jewellery

One guy with 12 cars and 100+ motorbikes

I know some of these guys have worked hard for their cash. But still!

But what really pushed my button was...

The headed toilet seat,

that opens with motion sensor,

and has a tablet/ipad sort of device to flush and close the top

Madame doesn't like her butt being cold when she wakes up during the night

If you had a silly amount of money what useless object would you buy, just for the fake of having it

It's across from Waitrose. (You know, the supermarket where a special offer is 2 for the price of 3...)

I saw a similar programme Max where the person had a gold plated bog... now... no matter how much money I had I could never buy such a useless thing even though of course I would have a lovely house, garden (a passion), car etc etc. However I honestly could not spend money on ridiculous things like 5 grand handbags or heated gold loo's when there are people on zero hours contracts, do not have clean water to drink etc etc.... I would like to think I would be doing something to be less selfish ffs

Think is a question of perspective imo. We tend to spend what we have. I am not rich but the useless s*ite I have bought in the past.....everyone has right?

So why would this not be the same for the super rich? There human like the rest of us

And also the people these get on these are probably not representative of the breed......

being frivolous and indulging in a spa day kinda pales in comparison to buying a 747 because you hate check ins

probably lol

Seriously, but that's not my point. My point is more about human behaviour. The desire to help others has nothing to do with with how much you have.

I don't agree. Someone who is destitute might view spending £200 on spa day as a complete waste and squaderous. Again all about the perspective of the person forming the opinion.

Also, it's TV and entertainment. Are all business people like The Apprentice candidates, are all Benefit claimants like those you find on these fly-on-the-wall programmes you see? Of course not. Similarily, rich people do not tend to spend their money on s*ite just as jewel encrusted toilet seats

Ok, put all the tv personalities aside.

This week, in India a couple got married at a cost £59 MILLION. India, a country with rampant poverty (& a space programme), but two happy young people can spend that on a wedding.

Is that right?

Don't think it is right, don't think it is wrong. How others spend their money is up to them as long it is legal and causes no harm to anyone

Dundee

I know some people who are rich but from family money and walk about like tinks and are tighter than a ducks arse with regard to spending what they have. They buy odd expensive items and wear them till they fall apart.....not for me. I agree these programmes only select the good entertainment people.

It's like when people it's obscene that footballers earn up to 2M a week. Does anyone need that amount of money, of course they don't. If someone is on an average salary say 25k a year and was offered a large pay rise, would they take it, of course they would. We all take what is on offer. The magnitude of the numbers is what seems to drive opinion

There are millions of people who would be delighted to be on 25k... you have to remember when doing averages the lowest ones get lost in that... re your point on people spending money and it doesn't hurt anyone... what if your multi million pound business is built on the starving poor of another country who literally get pennies an hour and live in mud huts with no facilities... I would call that hurting people on a massive and disgusting scale.

Again just a point of view... sometimes there is a bigger picture to see

My point wasn't about 25k per se. It was about people accepting what is on offer. And yes you have touch upon something that is much bigger.....usually solvable after a bottle of wine lol x

Heated toilet seats are pretty common in Japan & would be a boon in the cold Scottish climate (I did briefly consider ripping the one out of the hotel in Japan but I couldn't fit the entire kludgie in my suitcase lol).

If I had unlimited funds though I'd want a tropical island to retire to & do a Pussy Galore - put up a big sign saying no trespassers & invite my friends over for fun holidays.
