We will be in Perth this weekend. Can anyone recommend some good pubs/restaurants in the centre of town?

I'm seldom in Perth of an evening since the fetish club closed but, if you're looking for quality, affordable lunchtime food, you won't beat the Salvation Army cafe on King Edward Street.

"salvation army cafe and weatherspoons.wow."

I can understand your comment about Wetherspoons. They all look identical and they all come across as vertical drinking establishments. On the upside, there's often a decent selection of proper beer and nobody could accuse Wetherspoons of being expensive.

The Sally Army Cafe serves really good food - food like your granny used to make - in a very homely atmosphere. There's invariably a queue for a table - you'll probably be asked if you mind sharing. Go for it. It's not Rogano and it's not Martin Wishart but it's well worth a visit if you're in Perth.

The Queen's Hotel is just across from the train station and is pretty good for a Best Western place. It's got a lovely wee pool in the basement.
