I had it for the first time last year, it took amitryptaline and physio to fix.
I'm having bother now in the mornings - I can't sleep more than 6hrs without having an ache in my back and hips.
The only thing that helps ease it off is exercise and moving around |

I don't know how it's affecting you at the moment but here's two of the exercises that the physio gave me:
- stand beside a wall with your affected side facing the wall. Place your feet a little way out to the side so you're leaning and place your forearm against the wall. Push your hip in towards the wall then out. Do this 10-15 times, a few times a day.
- lie on your affected side on the edge of the sofa and raise your knees so they are sticking out over the edge. Hold on to the sofa and push your knees towards the floor, so you're stretching your side. Again about 10-15 times. You may need to put your other hand on the floor to stop you falling off the sofa, I did. Alternatively get someone to stand beside the sofa and you hook your feet around their hip, and push your knees towards the floor, they can help by holding your shoulders so you don't fall.
Hope either of those give you some relief |

The doctor put me on tramadol at first, it had absolutely no effect. It wasn't until I got my physio he told me to stop taking the tramadol and ask for amitryptaline or gabapentin. Major improvement within a couple of weeks, I was able to stand for more than 2 mins. Hopefully the yoga will help with the current issue |

Could not get relief until doctor sent me to physio, the exercises strengthen the back muscles and been a few years now since I had problems with it but I know how you feel it can be real agony.

When mine was bothering me I was told by physio to find the point in my arse/ hip area where it seemed to be pinching the nerve and put a golf ball inside my pants directly on the point and lie on it, it's hurts like hell at first but does ease and defiantly helped |

"If they don't I'd push for physio, tablets alone won't help
Thanks for you help and advice, very much appreciated."
Don't know what it's like where you are, but my doctor gave me a card for the physio and I called them myself to go on the list, they don't do it for you. It's a possible 10 week wait but I was seen within 3 weeks |

Someone suggested a tennis ball to me today, probably thinking the same thing |

Yeah same idea just golf ball is harder and smaller so can pin point the pinched nerve |

Tennis ball are indeed better as they give a little under your weight. Place the ball on the floor and roll on it hip/glutes/top side and back of thighs.
However, I wouldn't recommend it during the acute inflammation stage as it would aggravate the nerve further. It is however useful, when you feel the sciatica coming and when the acute stage is over but you are still in pain. Don't think you would get in that position in an acute stage anyway.

"Also dEaling with foot pain everytime lean on left foot, pain shoots from the heel as if inside somewhere"
Check out plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis. If you are on your feet a lot, walk a lot or run could be it |
