They are drafting a bil of union because they are petrified of indyref2, that's why she's coming up.

The UK is a busted flush.

If indyref2 was an issue Sturgeon would've called for it by now. She hasn't though and she won't. She's currently running around doing everything except asking for it.

Did Nicola Sturgeon have a mandate to govern when she took over after Salmond's resignation, or was that different somehow?

Mrs May said her message was that the UK government was on the side of Scots.

'Special union'

She said: "This visit to Scotland is my first as prime minister and I'm coming here to show my commitment to preserving this special union that has endured for centuries.

"And I want to say something else to the people of Scotland too: the government I lead will always be on your side.

"Every decision we take, every policy we take forward, we will stand up for you and your family - not the rich, the mighty or the powerful.

"That's because I believe in a union, not just between the nations of the United Kingdom, but between all of our citizens."

So? do you still want independence for Scotland or do you want to fly the British flag and be proud?

" So? do you still want independence for Scotland or do you want to fly the British flag and be proud?"

Proud of the butchers apron?

Two notable anniversaries this year - 1746 and 1066.

270 years since the holocaust in the Highlands, a savage exercise in ethnic cleansing and usurping of the communitarian way of life and communal land ownership in the Scottish Highlands, leading to mass emigration over the following centuries and people replaced by sheep. The effects can still be seen in the empty glens.

950 years since the Norman invasion, a catastrophe for all the nations of the British isles. 950 years of hostility and disrespect and an inculcation in the ruling classes in London of warfare, aggression and conquest as an acceptable and desirable pattern of behaviour.

British people, including a higher than average proportion of Scots, have contributed much in terms of discovery, invention, technology, philosophy and the arts, but the British project for colonial expansion, conquest and enslavement was, in its widespread effects across the globe, just hellish.

Teresa May, no great defender of civil liberties in her time at the Home Office, signalled the renewal of Trident weapons of mass destruction - located in Scotland against the wishes of its people - as one of her earliest priorities.

Trident plus Brexit are crucially significant issues for the relationship between Edinburgh and London. The political landscape has changed so much over the past two years, that one might deem the 55/45 result to be superseded by events.

It will not be too long before rUK will be looking for a new flag. The writing's on the wall for the butchers apron.

Irish reunification must also be on the cards, but that could take 10-20 years. The plantation Scots extremists will be unhappy but, as with Scotland, it will just be a return to the natural, logical and pre-existing condition.

As we are seeing with indyref 1 and Brexit, artificial constructs of political union, whether imposed or voluntary, are falling out of favour and the people are confounding the elites.

Yes, the infamous vow was enough to swing indyref 1 for the union but, to quote George Bush (never thought to do that!), "Fool me once...."

after talks in Edinburgh, Mrs May appeared unwilling to consider a second referendum on Scottish independence

As far as she is concerned, the Scottish people had their vote - they voted in 2014 - and a very clear message came through that the majority of Scots are gutless cowards unwilling to fight for Independence.

She held short regarding the "gutless cowards" and bit her lip to prevent saying it, only thought it in her mind.

.

Independence is not an option, it will not happen, there is no will of the Scottish people for this, they had their chance in 2014, they voted then returned back to their mundane normal life's.

.

"Mundane" definition;

humdrum, dull, boring, tedious, monotonous, tiresome, wearisome, prosaic, unexciting, uninteresting, uneventful, unvarying, unvaried, unremarkable, repetitive, repetitious, routine, ordinary, everyday, day-to-day, quotidian, run-of-the-mill, commonplace, common, workaday, usual, pedestrian, customary, regular, normal; unimaginative, banal, hackneyed, trite, stale, platitudinous; informaltypical, vanilla, plain vanilla, hacky; rarebanausic

"the mundane aspects of daily life"

.

face the facts folks

Maybe, just maybe, Sturgeon will actually get on with her well paid day job and stop interferring in matters that she does not have powers over.

I appreciate that Scotland voted to remain in Europe but we also voted to remain in the UK.

I think someone needs to take her to one side and explain what democracy actually is and she cannot pick the bits she likes.

Instead of obsessing about independence I would prefer her to concentrate on running the country in a better manner than she has been doing.

I've posted elsewhere that this is what she'd do, lots of meaningless running around and bluster to try to distract indy supporters from the fact that she isn't going to ask for another referendum, despite all the rhetoric before the EU referendum about them doing exactly that. She knows that there are many SNP voters who only support the party on that basis so it's about trying to keep them onside and the SNP in power.

Also, it's handy for distracting from some terrible failures in government.

I thought her maiden speech in Downing street was a well crafted and thoughtful . Did i believe what she said....not really , The conservatives have an open goal with Labour imploding the Lib dems no threat and the SNP already starting to fray at the edges.Too afraid to call for indy2 and finding they have a very very limited talent pool and with having to take some responsibility now... they will be another busted flush within a few years. Ruth Davidson is the only scots MSP really secure just now.

This should be moved to the politics forum now. Not the OP's intention I know. I started reading a humorous thread about the PM and a swingers club and ended up knee-deep in the same old English hating "butcher's apron" and "gutless cowards" type of crap I had hoped to see the back of after the Scottish referendum. It's getting beyond fucking old now
