the competition is all very much the same now with good deals all around.

Who ever you decide to go with, go online first and subscribe to their membership loyalty scheme, once you have done this it opens the door to further discount

Pop through to Stirling. I always use to get good deals at Arnold Clark - they're in the Volvo dealership

As Andy said Arnold Clark in Stirling do some good deals if you want a basic car.

They had a deal for £12 a day for a wee corsa.

Or you have Europa Car about 2 mins away from that in Sprenkerse retail park.

A couple of bills to prove where you live and license should be good enough but Google Arnold Clark car hire Stirling, get the number and call them is your best bet

If you're flying in to Edinburgh - you could hire a car at the airport

Glasgow.

I've used enterprise before.

They will collect you and drop you back off after your hire.

Also used Arnold, watch out for the indemnity fee.

Europcar I've found the best so far. Always do a deal on the day, low deposit and you can do one way hires, which is what I mainly use them for.
