Looks like a few have spoilt the celebration of winning the cup by the after match pitch invasion.
there can only be a few outcomes on this and none of them great.
What's peoples views on this?
yes it was 100+years since they won the cup and where right to be joyous but have the fans over stepped the mark?

I think your being a little unfair punish the club for fans behaviour. For me the full weight of the law should be brought down on any and every perpetrator they find a clear msg that this behaviour is intolerable |

114 years or not no one should invade the pitch regardless..... They (hibs )goaded Rangers fans into scenes of utter nonsense.Somerhing that was put to bed in the 80,s
Both teams should face a healthy fine and all fans that are identified should be banned from ALL Scottish grounds !
P.s. I am neither a supporter of any of these clubs |

no fans are not connected to clubs hence they are only supporters there actions are their own they have no prior instruction from the club. Are the police and security there only as a reactionary force.... no and the intel they must have had previous should have warned them this was a very real possibility hell I knew as a layman!! So steps should have been taken and possibly were but numbers were to much hence why I think any and all perpetrators should have the full weight of the law brought down on them to send a clear msg. |

Lee Wallace is actually thinking about walking away from football after yesterday ..... Scottish football is a disgrace right now.I read somewhere that they do it in England (invade the pitch ) it's not a fucking playground ! |

In my opinion I don't care who was in the right & who was in the wrong, I think if your not a player, a referee or a manager or official you should never be on the pitch.
Fans from both sides were arsehole and anyone who stepped foot on that pitch should all be banned from attending another game |

just another day in the life of football.
football fans as individuals tend to be fine. group them against another and they are keg of tnt waiting to explode.
you only have to see the reaction to a goal....
no other sport acts in the same way.
infact football to most fans is like their on personel religion. and we all know were that leads.....

Well the guy who attacked Lee Wallace hasn't a hope of evading justice, full face-on pic in the paper.
But of course, they'll be hit with fines, which few of them will pay, and so it goes on. Bung them in jail for a month and they might think twice in future. |

Was lucky enough to be at the game, best of my life. And no I wasn't on the pitch.
What happend after was not good, I'm a wimp when it comes to violence. Hate hate hate it. There were incidents of guys getting stomped my multiples while on the deck. From both fans.
Rangers fans were in the wrong for reacting with violence to the goading. Hibs fans were a disgrace for attacking players.
All in all a cluster fuck but it in no way took any shine of an amazing win
And as for football being for stupid people. Well that made me chuckle. Some people just don't get passion and competition. And I have always found those people lacking a certain edge and creativity. Football is one of the purest forms of athleticism. It is also far more egalitarian than most sports.

Taking cognisance that both clubs are playing in the Scottish Cup final which come under the auspices of the SFA and is being played at the national stadium, they are for all intent and purpose at 'their workplace' whilst the game is being played
The fact that numerous Rangers players and officials were assaulted 'in their workplace- Hampden' means the SFA are just as guilty for failing to provide a safe working environment, irrespective of what the Hibee twats did or the obvious gross incompetence of Police Scotland's match commander and the employed security company (G4S)
Irrespective of any findings of an internal investigation as and when carried out, they (SFA)cannot apportion any failings OR BLAME on these organisations, as bad as they were on the day.
Buck stops with SFA and SFA solely
Regarding Hibs, at a very minimum I can see a massive fine in excess of £250,000 and or ban from competing in next years competition being imposed on them and rightly so...
For those old enough to remember...Rangers were banned from Europe in 1972 after their fans invaded the pitch ( exuberance or not) whilst and they were presented with their trophy in the locker room. I hasten to add, NO assaults to opposition players or officials, NO taunting or goading opposition fans and NO damage to stadium.
Hibernian FC have put Scottish football back 30 years and in effect, will now obviously eliminate any chance of clubs trying to bring alcohol back into football to generate income |

Generalisations of personality based on sport preferences was not smart. Soz.
I paid 30 for my ticket. I think that's fine. I'm playing for being entertained like going to the theatre. The facilities were great and the staff very plesent.
And I don't think you get my point about egality. I do not mean fiscally as there is obviously huge and sickening wealth in football that is not acceptable especially at a time when general inequality is on the rise. Anyone could point that out. And obviously football is not alone in this when in Scotland the top 20% of erners 'earn' 80% of this countries wealth and there are around 450 000 kids living in poverty
I was more talking to the actual sport it's self. All you need is a ball and anyone can compeat. That's the beauty. That's why it is universal language and had done far more good in the world than bad.
But any way. It's nice that a internet convo about football hasn't become a slagging match!

I get what your saying. Same as some of my friends.
But I'm never going to agree with you. Your saying that Rangers 'fans' were justified in there violence because they were goaded. That's ridiculous, it's a football game. The entire game is one set of people antagonising an other. It's how you choose to react to that. And the choice to get out of seats, jump the barrier and run for a fight is pathetic.
The only times I've ever fought are when I was scared for my own for some one else safety. So yeah I would wimp away if Rangers had won and were singing their biggoted songs in my direction. I would have taken the loss on the chin like an adult, being a hibs fan we have taken a lot of those losses.
There will, rightly be bans and jail for both sets of fans/clubs

They wrecked a pub that's next to Hampden too. Fought with each other and broke the toilets.
Not really a way to celebrate a win. My son has done security at this pub several times but this is the first time the fans have caused so much trouble. |

You obviously weren't watching the match. If you had, you'd have seen perfectly well that it was the Hibs fans who initially invaded the pitch, and it was also Hibs fans who attacked Rangers personnel.

Yes hibs fans invaded the pitch but so did rangers fans and as i said the pictures in the papers show rangers fans attacking hibs fans but hey maybe you never seen this and if rangers players were assaulted thats a disgrace but ive yet to see any actual evidence of that , they are as bad as each other |

And here we go back to the 1980's and the fences get rebuilt to cage the animals.
Is that the only way to stop the violence.
I am an ex-player and got out of the game because of what goes on. I no longer go to watch football either because I can't stand to hear the bile the comes out of their mouths and I'm not accusing one team here you hear it around every ground in Scotland. You each have your own bile to scream at each other be it the Glasgow scum shouting at each other or everyone else screaming abuse at them.
The media are happy to blame the West of Scotland and in particular the Old Firm.
Both these teams have gone to huge limits to erase bigotry and sectarianism at their grounds but there is still an element of scum get in.
Yes what happened at Hampden was disgraceful and yes we will probably see the cages come back and any chance of alcohol sold in the stadia will not be revisited.
I'm afraid Scottish football took a serious black eye yesterday and it will take years to recover from it.
Hibernian won the cup for the first time in over a century and congratulations go to them, but thanks to their supporters Scottish football is once again hanging its head in shame

Put both teams down a division and ban them from all cup competition for 3 years. Then let no adult enter the matches unless accompanied by a child for 3 years. Replay the last four as a final without Rangers and Hibs award the winner the cup. That was a disgrace. Sport is for the people not bellends. |

It's quite a sad inditement to Scottish football that what was an absolute showpiece for everything that was good about our game in Scotland was sullied by what went on afterwards. And it's quite an inditement on Scottish society that despite there being video evidence of unfettered violence on both sides of fans that there are those who would try to argue their set of fans or worse your religion on both sides of the divide even if you don't support one of the two teams allows you to be blind to this. It's quite easy if you set foot on the park to celebrate slap on wrist it shouldn't have happened and is wrong stay in the stands next time. If however you were one of the fans who came onto pitch with violent intent shame on you and the book should be thrown at you whatever team you supported |

I've been on pitches a few times and this was a case where it just got out of hand. The rozzers cockwd up big time. Yes some Hibees were well out of order but all the Rangers fans needed to do was stay in their seats or head out of the ground, not take them on for a square go. If any Hibs fans had been daft enough to enter the Rangers seated areas , they would have taken a pummeling.

I would never condone any fans encroaching the field of play however I understand why they done it and most fans of larger clubs in Scotland may never have to go through what they went through. What was a disgrace though is if there is any truth in players/officials being attacked and given the lack of response from stewards and police there was always going to be a fair few heading straight for the opposition fans to goade them for a reaction. I'm sure a selection of most teams fans would probably have done the same given the needle between them. |
